The Cincinnati Bengals claimed running back Samaje Perine off waivers from the Miami Dolphins and linebacker Austin Calitro off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars on Tuesday.
Perine, 24, spent time with the Bengals last season, logging five snaps on offense and 104 on special teams in six games before being cut and joining the practice squad. The Dolphins signed him in December, and he had five carries for 16 yards in one game.
A former fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma, Perine was teammates with current Bengals starting running back Joe Mixon while with the Sooners.
Perine had 175 carries for 603 yards and a touchdown with the Washington Redskins in 2017, his rookie season, but he has logged just 13 carries total since.
Calitro, 26, is a former undrafted free agent out of Villanova who has started nine of 29 games over the past two seasons with Jacksonville (2019) and the Seattle Seahawks (2018). He has 85 tackles (seven for loss) and two pass breakups in his career.
