Bengals reportedly in the mix to land running back Ezekiel Elliott

The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the three teams former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is deciding between to join for the upcoming season.

Elliott has reportedly narrowed his list down to the Eagles, Jets and the Bengals and is expected to make his decision by the end of next week, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

An overhaul is likely coming for the Bengals at running back. Joe Mixon’s future remains uncertain with the team at the moment and the Bengals lost Samaje Perine in free agency to the Broncos. While it remains unclear what Cincinnati’s plans for Mixon are, the Bengals are in need of adding at least two running backs to its roster before the season begins.

If the Bengals were to sign Elliott, it means the team is ready to move on from Mixon. The Bengals would be unable to keep both Mixon and Elliott on the roster.

The Cowboys decided to move on from Elliott after his worst season in Dallas. The former Ohio State standout rushed for 876 yards on 231 carries for 12 touchdowns.

Elliott amassed 8,262 yards in seven seasons with the Cowboys. The 27-year-old was released by the Cowboys at the start of free agency last week.
