Piling on Florida Dairy Farmers Award honors, the accolades have yet to stop rolling in for Palm Beach County High School Sports Award winners Luna Curran of Oxbridge and the Benjamin track and field team, highlighted by outstanding performances from head coach Barrett Saunders and rising senior Micah Mays.

A statewide panel of high school softball coaches and media representatives recognized Curran as the Softball Player of the Year for Class 2A. With 82 points and two first-place votes, the soon-to-be Western Kentucky pitcher came third in the running for Miss Softball, ultimately awarded to repeat winner Jasmine Francik of Melbourne High.

Curran, who earned The Post's Small Schools Softball Player of the Year in 2022, served as a critical piece to the ThunderWolves' continued success since seeing her first starts as a freshman, rounding out her high school experience with a career ERA of 0.60 and 518 strikeouts — 299 this season — along with a personal record .470 batting average and a Final Four appearance.

In addition to being nominated for the Palm Beach County Sports Award's Girls Athlete of the Year, Curran was named to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association's Softball All-Star Classic roster and secured back-to-back Class 1A-5A Player of the Year Honors from the Sun Sentinel.

Like Curran, Class 1A Track Athlete of the Year winner Mays was a front-runner for the Palm Beach County Sports Award's Athlete of the Year and continued to be an undisputed choice among a statewide panel of high school track and field coaches and media representatives for the Florida Dairy Farmers Award.

Even if he hadn't led the Bucs to the Class 1A state championship, Mays' 26 points scored individually ranked him in eighth place across team standings. The highly touted football prospect — now receiving looks for track scholarships — earned three individual state championships with personal records in 400-meter (47.52s) and triple jump (45-11.75) and finished third in high jump.

Throughout the season, Mays went undefeated in eight 400-meter races and sped to top 15 state rankings in the 400-meter and triple jump.

Mays' development, along with the rest of Benjamin's boys and girls track teams, would've been impossible without the contributions of Saunders, who was named the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 1A Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Albeit a first-year head coach, Saunders was more than qualified to take on the task of building the Bucs to a historic run, becoming the first private school boys squad to win the Palm Beach County Track and Field Championships in 2022.

Saunders' resume features Collegiate All-American honors and an impressive run as a student-athlete at the University of Kansas, an eight-time all-Big 12 honoree and long jump champion.

Saunders shared in a Twitter post that he's proud to have received the statewide honor and thanked "all the great coaches" on his staff who make Benjamin's "athletes great" and his job easier.

Both Mays and Saunders also won annual track and field honors in Class 1A-2A for the Sun Sentinel.
