Bensalem Classroom Projects Get $5K

BENSALEM, PA — Classroom projects at Bensalem Township School District's schools have received a total of about $5,000 in funds from a local nonprofit.

The Just For The Kids Education Foundation raises money to help bankroll special projects at all nine schools in the district.

This year's recipients were announced by district Superintendent Samuel Lee on Friday. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the foundation was unable to hold its traditional reception at which funds are awarded.

For the 2020-21 school year, the group awarded $5,098 to the following projects:

  • Cornwells Elementary. Cornwells Guitar Club, $482

  • Faust Elementary. "You Call This Democracy? A Student's Take." $500 for the classrooms of both Elaine Lodge and Mary Savage

  • Faust Elementary. "That's My Story. Representative Literature in the Classroom." $500, Mary Savage

  • Struble Elementary. Scholastic News For 4th Graders. Michelle Klucsarits. $550

  • Valley Elementary. Club Ophelia. $500

  • Shafer Middle School. Middle School Math Intervention. $270

  • Shafer Middle School. World language books for library. $496

  • Snyder Middle School. Picture books in middle school education. $476

  • Bensalem High School. Secondary life skills STEM enrichment. $498

  • Bensalem High School. BHS literary magazine. $350
