BENSALEM, PA — The golf course at Bensalem Township Country Club will reopen on Friday, May 1, township officials announced Tuesday.

The announcement came a day after Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf said golf courses, marinas, guided fishing trips and private campgrounds could reopen after being shut down to help curb the coronavirus outbreak.

Wolf's order aims "to ensure that Pennsylvanians have opportunities to safely enjoy outdoor recreation as a way to maintain positive physical and mental health," he said. The businesses that reopen will be required to maintain strict safety precautions.

Bensalem officials said the golf course, at 2000 Brown Ave., will reopen "under strict guidelines."

On Tuesday, the country club had posted a COVID-19 Rules and Regulations page on its website. Golfers will be required to maintain social distancing while on the course, no one with symptoms of the coronavirus will be allowed on the course and tee times will be scheduled by phone only.

No one is allowed to arrive more than 20 minutes before their tee time, are required to wear masks in the clubhouse and pro shop and its bar and restaurant will remain takeout only.
