  • The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid launch edition carries the Odyssean banner.

  • This hybrid features a 2.9-liter V6 that makes 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque with a single electric motor.

  • The Bentley Flying Spur Hybrid is a step towards Bentley's 2026 goal of a full hybrid lineup.

The Bentley Flying Spur is joining the company’s Bentayga as the next product in Bentley’s lineup to make the jump into electrification. While battery-electric vehicles might be the hot topic of the day, that’s not exactly where Bentley is taking the Flying Spur. Instead, the Flying Spur is launching a hybrid variant that takes the brand a step closer to its goal of a full hybrid lineup by 2026.

Powering this Flying Spur is a 2.9-liter turbocharged V6 gasoline-burning engine and an electric motor. If that seems familiar, it should: It’s similar to the powertrain you’ll find under the skin of the current Porsche Panamera. That means that this Bentley won’t be that far down on the performance of its non-hybrid counterparts and will send 536 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. In Porsche trim, this powertrain is EPA rated at 23 combined miles per gallon.

Now, kicking off this hybrid Bentley is, as you’d expect, a special edition. Dubbed the Odyssean, this Flying Spur hybrid is not subtle about its opulence. As expected out of a special-edition Bentley, this Flying Spur Odyssean is posh. Leather and wood cover nearly every surface. Bentley even opted for leather to wrap this Flying Spur’s headliner. This Flying Spur will also feature interior accents like mood lightning and the interesting Bentley rotating display.

This loaded Flying Spur will also get some interesting tech. The connected Bentley App will tell you the status of your Odyssean’s charge, trip distance, fuel consumption, and charge points along the way: if you wanted to charge your hybrid Bentley’s battery.

Bentley says you can currently order the Flying Spur Hybrid, though the company has not disclosed the price. You can, however, inquire to buy one from their website right now. Considering the Flying Spur starts near $200,000, this hybrid variant will likely cost substantially more than the base model.

Do you think that Bentley’s hybridization model will help it transition into EV production?
