Bentonville High School staff member arrested for sexual assault involving student

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Bentonville High School staff member was arrested on January 29 following an investigation into a report of inappropriate behavior with a student.

According to a press release from the Bentonville Police Department, Micah Whitfield, 47, was arrested for second-degree sexual assault, a class B felony.

Whitfield is listed on the school’s website as the technical director for the district’s Arend Arts Center.

Bentonville High School released a statement in response to the arrest:

We fully support Bentonville Police as they secure the facts in this situation. This individual is on leave and barred from district properties, pending the outcome of law enforcement’s investigation.
