Berea to Host 22nd Annual L&N Day

May 22—The 22nd Annual L&N Day will return on its normal schedule in Berea this year.

The event is an opportunity for fun for the whole family as attendees can watch working model trains, shop for railroad souvenirs and join in on train-related storytelling.

The free event will be on Saturday, June 4 at the Old Town Artisan Village, 3 Artist Circle, Berea, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Last year, the event was hosted in August rather than June due to COVID-19, according to Conley.

"Last year, we saw a very large attendance," Nancy Conley, operations manager of Berea Tourism, said. "Folks hadn't been able to get out and enjoy events so we anticipate hopefully having a pretty nice crowd again this year."

The event will have at least two model trains and conductor hats for children, Conle said.

"It's always fun for the kids to be able to watch the model trains," Conley said. "We'll have children's activities on the front lawn. So there will be different photo options on the front lawn, creating a template. It's about activity."

Employees who work in rail transportation at companies like CSX or Ellerman Lines also come to share stories of their experience.

"It's just kind of a really fun day for I think kids of all ages to share in those stories and learn of the history but also to shop for railroad memorabilia, whether it be older antique items or new items."
