Berkeley To Distribute 'Crisis' Food Kits Next Week

BERKELEY, NJ — Berkeley Township will distribute emergency "crisis" food kits Thursday. Kits will be available from 12-1:30 p.m. at two locations: the Holiday City at Berkeley Clubhouse parking lot and the Recreation Center (630 Atlantic City Blvd.).

Seniors, homebound families and those without transportation can get kits delivered. The volunteer delivery person will have no contact with the food kit, which they will leave at the door or porch. Deliveries can be made from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

If picking up, the township asks residents to wait until noon before lining up.

Contact Berkeley Recreation, (732) 269-4456 or by email at mdykoff@twp.berkeley.nj.us to register. When you call or email, provide your name, address and phone number for a follow-up.

The Township partnered in April with Fulfill, formerly called the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Berkeley has held several food pickup days during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I would like to thank CEO Kim Guadagno and Fulfill for providing the food, as well as our local residents and restaurants for making this possible," Mayor Carmen Amato said in a statement.
