Berks Catholic's Josiah Jordan named East MVP in small school PSFCA East-West All-Star game
May 23—Berks Catholic's Josiah Jordan was named the East MVP and Hamburg's Xander Menapace and Charles Sheppard played key roles to help the East beat the West 41-34 in the small school PSFCA East-West All-Star game at Bishop McDevitt's Rocco Ortenzio Stadium at Harrisburg on Sunday.
Jordan had a game-high 10 receptions for 138 yards and two touchdowns, had two carries for 13 yards and had an 84-yard kickoff return to set up a TD.
He scored on a 47-yard pass from Northern Lehigh's Nick Frame and a 6-yard pass from Menapace.
Menapace finished 10-of-14 passing for 107 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 38 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown, on seven carries.
Sheppard, a defensive lineman, was in the middle of a goal-line stop on the game's final play that preserved the East's lead. West quarterback Jeff Hoenstine was stuffed on a sneak on fourth-and-goal from the 1.
Sheppard also tipped a pass that led to an interception.
Hamburg running back Pierce Mason had 15 cards on five carries and one catch for 4 yards.
Wyomissing's Ian Levering was 4-for-4 on PATs. Berks Catholic's Andrew Kurtas was 1-for-2 on PATs and also averaged 30.5 yards on two punts.
Wyomissing long snapper Brock Kistler also played for the East.
In the big school game, the West beat the East 24-16. No Berks players were on the East roster.
