Berks churches to hold Harvest Home services [Religion Digest]

Sep. 16----St. John's (Hain's) United Church of Christ, 591 N. Church Road, Lower Heidelberg Township, will have its annual Harvest Home service on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. The sanctuary will be decorated with fruits, vegetables and flowers from the summer's harvest. After the service, there will be a tractor parade, hay ride and lunch in the grove. In the event of rain, lunch will be in the fellowship hall.

—St. John's Gernant's Church (A Federated Congregation) 13 Gernant's Church Road, Ontelaunee Township, will worship in the Memorial Hall on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. It will be a Harvest Home service. Donations of all types of foods will be given to Bethany Children's Home in Heidelberg Township. A social hour will be held after the service.

—St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, will have coffee hour after the 9 a.m. service on Sunday. Mums ordered from the Relay for Life team will be delivered on Sunday to be picked up at the Boy Scout cabin. The Barnstormers will present a concert next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and also participate in the Harvest Home worship service on Sept. 24.

—Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will celebrate Rally Day on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There will be crafts, games and lessons for children. A covered dish will be held in the social hall after the service.

—United Church of Christ of Robesonia, 301 W. Penn Ave., will have a carnival theme at its Rally Day worship service on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. There will be activity stations accompanied by food and prizes. After worship, there will be a fellowship time with ice cream sundaes and hot dogs. Tuesday morning Bible study is by Zoom at 9. Register with the Rev. Mary Etta Mest at mestme@aol.com.

—Allegheny Lutheran Church, 1324 Alleghenyville Road, Brecknock Township, will be holding a community yard sale/vendor event from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.on Sept. 30. Refreshments will be available to purchase. —The Celtic Martins will perform from 4-6 p.m. on Sept. 24 at Hill Church Picnic Grove, 620 Hill Church Road, Pike Township. Food will be available at 3 p.m. A free will offering will be accepted. Rain or shine.

—Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Washington Township, will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its building addition during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Kevin McLemore will be the guest preacher, with special music by Debi Wahl, vocals, and Craig Kenney, trumpet. An indoor/outdoor flea market will be held next Saturday from 8-11 a.m., with a 25-cent sale. Tickets for the fall basket raffle also will be on sale. —Christ Lutheran Church of Douglass Township, Montgomery County, will worship on Sunday at the Stone Lodge at Green Lane Park, 2144 Snyder Road, Upper Frederick Township, Montgomery County, beginning at noon with coffee and refreshments, with worship at 12:15 p.m.

—Kissinger's Church, 715 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, will present a farewell concert featuring Pastor Dave Reinwald performing the oldies on Sunday at 4 p.m. There will be light refreshments after the concert.

—Bern Reformed United Church of Christ, Route 183, Bern Township, will hold a basket social in the social room today. Doors open at 10 a.m. with the ticket drawing at 1 p.m. Food will be available to purchase.

—St. John's Lutheran Church, 45 N. Reading Ave., Boyertown, will have a free drive-through, take-out meal today from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. No registration necessary.

—On Sunday morning from 9:05 to 9:45, between services, Fr. Bryce Wandrey will speak on "What's happening at Christ Church?" at Christ Episcopal Church, 435 Court St., Reading. Parking is available at the Abe Lincoln garage and the M&T Bank lot, both located off of Washington Street. Handicap spaces are located beside the church on Court Street.

—Lighthouse Christian Center will hold a roller skating party next Saturday from 5-7 p.m. at Skateaway, 2275 Lancaster Pike, Cumru Township. The conference will be conducted in two sessions on Saturday: 9:30 and 10:45 a.m. and two sessions on Sunday: 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. The conference is free. Preregister at mbcss.org.

—Bausman United Church of Christ, 1064 Penn Ave., Wyomissing, will be holding Oktoberfest next Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. rain or shine. There will be music, homemade German food, games, beer and prizes.

—Maidencreek Church, 261 Main St., Maidencreek Township, will worship Sunday at 9 a.m. with music including bell duets by Aimee Fangman and Karen Humprhey and an organ selection by Kimberly Ayrton.
