Meet and greet the golden retrievers and dogs that are available for adoption. Staff is on hand to answer all questions, and food is available for purchase. No admission charge. No photos. —Food trucks in the Olive Leaf Picnic Grove, 4 to 7 p.m. Featuring Mad Waffle, The Messy Pig, Munchiez, Castaneda and Snow Kone. Olive Leaf Chapel, 846 Fritztown Road, Spring Township.
—Berks County Genealogical Society monthly meeting, society library on the fourth floor of the GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, 201 Washington St., Reading, 6:30 p.m.. Amber Vroman, curator with the Berks History Center, will speak on "Preserving Precious Photographs." Doors open at 6. Admission is free.
—Fleetwood Borough 150th anniversary celebration, Fleetwood Bank executive offices and loan center, Main and Franklin streets, 2:30-6:30 p.m. Anyone who lives or works in the Fleetwood area is welcome to stop by to add their thumb print to Fleetwood Bank's tiger, which will be on display on Main Street once complete. Local ice cream truck, Angels on Wheels, will be at the event from 4 to 6 offering free ice cream courtesy of Fleetwood Bank, available to the first 100 individuals who stop by.

Free live music from Threefold Blessing, Keystone Ghostbusters, Just-Farm-Kids Tractor Club, Touch-a-Truck, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, bounce house, refreshments, school supplies, clothing, shoes, housewares, books and more, all free.
—Pig roast and hoedown, Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Hereford Township. Meal includes a pulled pork sandwich, ear of corn, coleslaw, a drink and dessert. Cost is $12, available from 4-7 p.m., eat in or take out. Keith Brintzenhoff will call the hoedown under the band pavilion from 6-8 p.m. Call 610-845-2626 to buy tickets. Tickets will also be available at the event.
—Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County presents a talk about Pennsylvania German gravestones, White Horse Inn, 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, Amity Township, 11 a.m. Michael Emery, Cornwall Iron Furnace site administrator, will have a PowerPoint presentation on tombstones, mainly located in Lancaster, Berks and Lebanon counties, from historical and architectural viewpoints. Suggested donation $2 per person. Proceeds benefit the trust.
Aug. 26:
—Farm Festival, Dreibelbis Historic Farm, 356 Hard Hill Road, Richmond Township, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring farm crafts, Native American displays, hayrides, music and old-time games. Food available. Free admission and $3 parking. The un-remodeled 1860s farmhouse is a living reminder of Berks County rural life. An entrance fee will be charged for tours of the main house.
Sept. 3:
—Concert by the Broken Spokes with Chris LaRose on guitar and Doug Madenford on mandolin, Conrad Weiser Homestead, 28 Weiser Drive, Womelsdorf, 5 p.m. They bring a toe-tapping show of old-time Americana music mixed with humor and storytelling, performing traditional Pennsylvania Dutch songs, jokes and stories. Sponsored by the Friends of the Conrad Weiser Homestead. Admission and parking are free. A free will collection will be taken.
Sept. 9:
—Community day and car show, Keystone Villa at Douglassville, 1152 and 1180 Ben Franklin Highway, Amity Township, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Raffles, food trucks, music, games, petting zoo. —Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County presents basket weavers of the Oley Valley, White Horse Inn, 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, Amity Township, 11 a.m. HPTBC board member Vicky Heffner will talk about basket making in the Oley Valley, discussing key basket makers including Rueben Reifsnyder, Milt Lorah, Ollie Strausser and Freddie Beiber. In addition to her PowerPoint presentation, she will have several examples of their baskets to show as well. Suggested donation $2 per person. All proceeds benefit the Trust.
