Berks County Chapter of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame will present scholarships to 36 seniors

Jun. 12—The Berks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame will present scholarships to 36 high school senior student-athletes at a dinner June 22 at the Chateau Tent at Green Valley Swim Club in Sinking Spring.

Each of the 18 BCIAA high schools has selected a female and male based on academic and athletic prowess to receive a $500 scholarship, presented in memory of Dr. Richard Flannery.

Former Exeter High School athlete Dee Kantner, one of the top basketball officials in the country, will be the guest speaker. Kantner was one of the first women to referee in the NBA and has worked 24 NCAA Women's Final Four games, including 15 national championship games.

Kantner will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in the fall in Reading.
