Berks run and walk intended to promote suicide prevention

Mar. 22—Threshold Rehabilitation Services Inc. and Penn State Berks in collaboration with the Berks County Suicide Prevention Task Force are holding the sixth annual ruOK? 5k & 1.5 Mile Walk on Saturday at Penn State Berks in Spring Township. Registration opens at 8 a.m., and the race begins at 9. Walk-up registrations are welcome, and the event will take place rain or shine, organizers said.

This event brings awareness to the Berks County Suicide Prevention Task Force and its ruOK? Campaign. Money raised during the previous events has funded benches at Gring's Mill with the ruOK? logo and toll-free phone number and the HOPE Blossoms mural in Reading.

The event is intended to raise awareness of ruOK?berks (ruOKberks.com). Established in 2015, the Berks County Suicide Prevention Task Force, in partnership with the Berks County MH/DD Program, consists of community leaders collaborating to reduce suicide in Berks County by providing ongoing education.
