Bondage clubs in Berlin have been given permission to reopen, but the safe word for sadists and masochists alike is “mask.”
A German court ruled in favor of the owners of a BDSM club and erotic massage parlor that wants to be part of the country’s post-pandemic reopening, according to U.K. news outlet Metro.
However, customers and employees must keep their faces covered to limit the transmission of COVID-19. Berlin’s brothels will remain closed because of the pandemic.
The sex-work ban that had tied up S&M clubs was the same one that shuttered brothels.
A spokesperson for the reopened erotica business reportedly said “The service is strictly limited to contact by hand, ensuring greater distancing as a rule.”
According to Johns Hopkins University, more than 205,000 Germans have been infected by COVID-19 and 9,120 have died.
