Berlin will hold exhibition of works by Alevtina Kahidze and others
The exhibition, named “The Captured House” is to be held at the Alte Munze art gallery in Berlin.
“The Captured House” is to be an art chronicle of war-time developments in Ukraine. It will be based on paintings, drawings, photos, sculptures and installations made by Ukrainian artists.

This list of Ukrainian artists to present their work in Berlin includes: Tiberiy Silvashi, Alevtina Kahidze, Vlada Ralko, Igor Gusev, Anton Logov, Gamlet Zinkivsky, Kinder Album, and others.
An important feature of the exhibition will be the work of Maks Levin, Ukrainian photographer who used to live in Irpin, a heavily shelled town near the city of Kyiv. In March, Levin was killed by a Russian bullet.
The name “The Captured House” refers to the literary portfolio of Julio Cortazar, an Argentinian writer. He used to live in Paris in 1920s where he became a participant of Gertrude Stein’s literary salon, which hosted literary celebrities like Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald.

The concept of the Ukrainian exhibition in Berlin refers to an imagined house that has been captured by the unknown evil forces. Finally, the owner of the house has to evacuate.
“In a real-time manner our artists are describing the humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine caused by the Russian invasion. They call on the international audience to have a dialogue on the future of Europe, as it is supposed to be our “common house,” reads the exhibition’s official press release.

After Berlin, the exhibition will move on to Paris, Rome and Amsterdam – a place where many exhibitions are devoted to understanding Russian culture and its flaws.
The exhibition in Berlin is organized by the culture management company Port.agency. It is being supported by Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry and Culture Ministry, as well as State Agency for Art and Education.
