Berne Union QB Nate Nemeth named first team All-Ohio

COLUMBUS - Berne Union senior quarterback Nate Nemeth capped off an outstanding senior season and career with a huge postseason honor and headlines the list of area players named to the Division IV, V, VI and VII All-Ohio football teams released Monday and Tuesday.

Nemeth, who helped lead the Rockets to a 7-4 overall record, as well as a spot in the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year, was named first team All-Ohio in Division VI by the Ohio Prep Sports Writers Association.

Nemeth accounted for 2,100 total yards and 26 TDs this season, including rushing for 1,506 yards and 21 touchdowns, and he returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown.

Nemeth, who was also selected as the Central District Offensive Player of the Year, helped lead the Rockets to back-to-back-Mid-State League-Cardinal Division championships as a sophomore and junior.

Nemeth, who accounted for more than 30 touchdowns and combined to pass and rush for more than 2,000 yards, was named second team All-Ohio a year ago.

Nemeth’s teammates, James Ashton, a senior linebacker, was named third team All-Ohio, and Wyatt Adams, a defensive lineman, was named All-Ohio honorable mention.

In Division IV, Fairfield Union senior quarterback Hayden Collins earned All-Ohio honorable mention honors, and in Division V, Liberty Union offensive lineman Slade McClaskey and Amanda-Clearcreek punter Drew Dossman both earned honorable mention All-Ohio honors.

In Division VII, Fisher Catholic receiver Hyde O’Rielley was selected first team All-Ohio. Irish kicker JJ Viau earned second team All-Ohio honors and Fairfield Christian Academy sophomore running back Danny Blair was named second team All-Ohio, while teammate Sam Rauch, a senior tight end, was selected honorable mention All-Ohio.
