Berry Global announces new CEO and chairman

EVANSVILLE − After deliberation and a unanimous vote, the Berry Global Board of Directors has announced both a new CEO and a new chairman who will take over in the next couple months.

As of Oct. 2, Kevin Kwilinski will become the next CEO, while Stephen Sterrett will serve over as chairman.

“Following a comprehensive search process, the board determined that Kevin is the ideal individual to guide Berry through its next phase of growth and value creation,” Sterrett is quoted as saying in a Tuesday news release.

Berry Plastic's current CEO and Chairman, Tom Salmon, will be retiring after almost eight years in the position.

Kwilinski currently serves as president and CEO of Multi-Color Corp. Prior to that, he served as CEO of Fort Dearborn Co.: a supplier of decorative labels that merged with Multi-Color Corp. in 2021. He's also worked as president and CEO of both PaperWorks Industries, Inc. and Portola Packaging.

Kwilinski received his bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from Greenville University and a master's degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan.

Stephen Sterett has been on Berry's board of directors since 2015. Before coming to Berry, he worked for over 20 years with Simon Property Group Inc. in various roles from treasurer to executive vice president to chief financial officer.
