Best Bets: Free tickets for moms at Heritage Museums and 4 more things to do this week

This week in Best Bets we see a spring art workshop bursting with color, a chance to dance at a new event, a visit with two grannies and, on May 21, a program of organ music in which the guests move from place to place to enjoy the sounds of three organs. Plus, mothers get free admission to Heritage Museums & Gardens.

The Cape and Islands offer scores of ways to enjoy nature, art, music, theater, poetry, books, food and more. In addition to events listed here, you will find a calendar full of things to do at our website, capecodtimes.com, under the tab "Things to do." You can also list your group's open-to-the-public events there.

Meet two women who have reinvented themselves later in life, taking on the name 'Two Grannies on the Road.'

"Two Grannies on the Road" hosts Beth Sobiloff and Marcia Rothwell will be speaking at the Sandwich Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17. During the event, participants will hear how this dynamic duo have reinvented themselves later in life. They will share funny stories about their adventures and show how they are living their retirement years to the fullest. Proving they are not ready for a rocking chair, these young-at-heart grandmothers will share their love of exploration and adventure.

Register for the event through the library website.

Community that moves together

There will be an open movement dance fair to promote diversity, equity and inclusion from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Boat House, First Light Beach in Brewster.

The event is co-hosted by Movement Arts Cape Cod and the Brewster Cultural Council. It offers open mini-workshops and showings of regional movement artists including Latin, Egyptian, contemporary, ballet, tai chi and more. The event is free, and all ages and abilities are welcome.

This fair is part of the pilot project “Dancing by the Bay” from the Brewster Cultural Council with funding from the Mass Cultural Council.

“The Fair begins an initiative to focus on the movement arts culture of the region. Here, local practitioners and interested public can gather to share learning and art, and to begin the process of building community among all movement arts enthusiasts,” writes Dave Iannitelli, who may be emailed at diannitelli@movementartscapecod.org or contacted on Facebook for more information.

Sign up to hear three different organ concerts on a Chatham Main Street walk.

The concert begins at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 21, at Methodist Church, 569 Main St. with Joan Kirchner playing the Noack Organ. At 3 p.m. Maury Castro plays the Dobson Organ at St. Christopher’s, 625 Main St., and at 4 p.m., Joseph Marchio plays the Casavant Freres organ at First Congregational Church, 650 Main St.
