Dinner and a movie

The Woods Hole Film Festival series Dinner & A Movie continues at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 1, with the documentary feature film "The Long Rider" by Sean Cisterna. When Filipe Leite leaves his adoptive home of Canada, the aspiring journalist sets out on an epic quest to ride from Calgary to his family's home in Brazil — and later beyond — entirely on horseback. Inspired by Aimé Tschiffely's 1925 equestrian journey, Filipe's 8-year odyssey of over 25,000 kilometers across 12 international borders, sees the young immigrant battle intense heat, drought, speeding transport trucks, nature's wrath and corrupt border guards on his history-making long ride home. Culled from over 500 hours of never-before-seen-footage.

Power of the Protest Song will be featured at Truro Library.

Peggy Lee tribute

Pop/jazz vocalist and songwriter Ann Hampton Callaway will perform April 7 at The Music Room in Yarmouth. Featured will be songs from her new tribute album, "Fever: A Peggy Lee Celebration!" and will include two of Lee’s compositions that have never before been recorded. One, a poem written by Lee titled “Clair De Lune,” Callaway composed music for; the other, a premiere of “The Other Part of Me,” a song written by Lee and Paul Horner for the 1983 autobiographical Broadway musical,"Peg." Featured on two tracks is special guest John Pizzarelli, another connection to Lee, whose favorite guitar player, after her husband, Dave Barbour, was John's father, Bucky Pizzarelli.
