Best bets for weekend fun in Volusia, Flagler

From tribute concerts to food trucks and an ATV-friendly luau party, there are plenty of ways to celebrate the Labor Day holiday weekend.

A well-deserved break after a tough week, yes?

Here are the best bets for weekend fun:

More Bandshell concerts

There are still a few more summer weekends to catch the weekly rock tribute band concerts at the Daytona Beach Bandshell. It’s perhaps the most consistent free entertainment series in town.

Here’s what’s on tap this weekend:

On Friday, it’s Man In the Mirror, a Michael Jackson tribute act. The faux King of Pop will be featured at the weekly “Sounds of Summer” concert series sponsored by the City of Daytona Beach. The Jackson tribute will mark the final show in the Friday night series for this summer.

General admission for the 7:15 p.m. show is free, with VP tickets available for $15. Visit daytonabandshell.com for more details.

On Saturday, the Bandshell will host another of the weekly “Star Spangled Summer” concert series shows featuring Rocket Man: Elton John Tribute, an homage to the legendary pop star who retired from touring after 50 years this summer. Fortunately, the tribute acts endure.

The 7:15 p.m. concert will be followed by fireworks over the beach at 9:45.

General admission to the show is free, with VIP tickets available for $15. Visit daytonabandshell.com for more information.

More music in New Smyrna Beach

On Flagler Avenue, the musical tribute will be directed toward first responders including law enforcement, firefighters and medical personnel at the aptly named Labor Day First Responders Music Festival that unfolds Thursday-Monday at venues along the popular New Smyrna Beach shopping thoroughfare.
