If you’re thinking about a new range, now is the time to get shopping.

For the past few years, Black Friday has stretched into a monthlong sale at major appliance retailers, such as Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Sears. It’s also a tactic that’s been adapted by smaller, local chains, like AJ Madison, who we’ve included here because in addition to offering free delivery just like the bigger retailers, we’ve found that they offer the lowest price in many cases.

“Not only will you see some of the lowest prices of the year for the entire month of November but you’ll also see discounts on the broadest array of models,” says Antonella Pomilla, CR’s market analyst for ranges.

So if you’ve been eyeing a particular range, your chances of finding it steeply discounted are greater now than during any other sales event.

To snag the best possible deal, look beyond the price tag at factors such as delivery and installation costs, haul-away services, and additional discounts or rebates for bundling appliances, all of which tend to vary from retailer to retailer. And keep in mind that most major retailers will match the price if you take in the competitor's ad—though the biggest retailers tend to drop their prices to line up with those of their direct competitors.

We've scoured hundreds of listings for ranges on sale, looking for the sweetest deals on models that rate highly in our tests. We also reviewed what our secret shoppers paid for each model, to provide a gut check on how good each deal really is. Below, we’ve listed some of the best deals we’ve encountered so far on gas and electric models. Because many retailers are running promotions all month, we’ll update this article as more ads appear, and as we uncover new models on sale that are worthy of your consideration.

If you’re not sure what you want in terms of features, take a step back and start with our range buying guide. Then turn to our comprehensive ratings of more than 175 gas, electric, and induction ranges to see how the models you’re considering perform.

CR’s test results: GE Profile PGS960SELSS
This GE is the closest you can get to a pro look without splurging on a model from a pro-style brand, like Wolf or Viking. At this price, which is about $700 off the MSRP, it’s less than half the cost of many pro-style models, plus it features better performance, two ovens—both with convection, and five burners, including a griddle burner.

LG Double-Oven Gas Range
The deal: $995 to $1,000 at AJ MadisonAppliances ConnectionBest BuyHome DepotLowe’s, and Sears

Even at full price, this high-scoring Samsung gas range offers a lot for the money, like a griddle burner, stainless finish, and convection. The current price offers savings of around $500 off the current MSRP, and is about $80 less than what our secret shoppers paid for the range three years ago. We think that makes it a no-brainer. This range has five burners, a convection oven, and a storage drawer beneath the main oven cavity.

Samsung Double-Oven Range in Black Stainless

Best Black Friday Deals on Electric Ranges

Frigidaire Electric 5-Burner Range
The deal: $544 to $550 at Best BuyHome Depot, Lowe’s, and Sears
CR’s test results: Frigidaire FFEF3054TS
This inexpensive Frigidaire can be had for about $250 off its regular price—and this is $130 less than the lowest sale price we’ve seen. The range is a strong performer, particularly on top of the stove, and impressively, it has two high-powered burners, which is a rarity on a range at this price. This model has five burners, a cooktop warming element, and a warming drawer, but the oven lacks convection. That means food may take a little longer to bake or roast, but performance doesn’t suffer—this model still earns a rating of Very Good for baking.

The deal: $793 to $800 at AJ MadisonAppliances ConnectionBest BuyHome DepotLowe’s, and Sears

This GE is a solid performer with front-mounted controls. It has four burners, a convection oven, and a warming drawer.

LG Black Stainless Range
The deal: $745 to $750 at AJ MadisonAppliances ConnectionBest BuyHome DepotLowe’s, and Sears
CR’s test results: LG LRE3194BD
Ordinarily when you buy a black stainless range at this price, you have to sacrifice some features. That’s not the case here, but that’s because this is really an $1,100 range discounted to the realm of entry-priced models. The oven is the standout feature on this range: At 6.3 cubic feet, it’s one of the largest in its class—and don’t worry, it also bakes well and earns an Excellent for broiling. This range has four burners, a convection oven, a digital control pad, and a warming drawer.

Samsung Induction Range
The deal:
$2,195 to $2,200 at AJ MadisonAppliances ConnectionBest BuyHome DepotLowe’s, and Sears

This super-powerful induction range requires no compromises. The top of the stove has burners that simmer steadily and heat very quickly, and the oven is no slouch at baking or broiling, either. The slide-in design provides a polished look, and you can grab this model now for about $600 below MSRP. This range has four burners, convection, and a warming drawer beneath the main oven cavity.

Whirlpool Double-Oven Electric Range
The deal:
$994 to $1,000 at AJ MadisonAppliances ConnectionBest BuyHome Depot, and Lowe’s

This range offers stellar performance and has two ovens, both with convection, and four burners, plus a cooktop warming element.

Whirlpool Slide-In Range in Black Stainless
The deal: $749 at Costco
CR’s test results: Whirlpool WEE510S0FS
This Costco-exclusive slide-in has front-mounted controls and no back panel, which give it a built-in look. In addition to stellar performance—this model earns a rating of Excellent in our cooktop low test—this range is one of the best deals we've seen at the warehouse club, at a full $330 less than what our secret shoppers paid for the one we tested. This range has four burners, though it lacks convection and a warming drawer.
