Best Children’s Hospitals In NC: US News & World Report

NORTH CAROLINA — North Carolina has three children’s hospitals listed among the best in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual rankings.

The 2020-21 best children’s hospital rankings released Tuesday feature the top 50 hospitals in 10 pediatric specialties and 10 hospitals that earned a spot on the magazine’s honor roll.

The hospitals on the honor roll “deliver exceptionally high-quality care across multiple specialties,” according to a news release from U.S. News & World Report.

Boston Children’s Hospital claimed the No. 1 spot on the honor roll for the seventh consecutive year.

The 2020-21 edition of the Best Children’s Hospitals does not include data from the coronavirus pandemic, which began after the data-collection period ended.

In North Carolina, three hospitals earned a place in the top 50 of at least one of the 10 pediatric specialty rankings.

Here are the hospitals in our state that ranked in the top 50 of a pediatric specialty:

  • Levine Children's Hospital, Charlotte, Ranked No. 36

  • North Carolina Children's Hospital at UNC, Chapel Hill, Ranked No. 46

Cardiology & Heart Surgery:

  • Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center, Durham, Ranked No. 31

  • Levine Children's Hospital, Charlotte, Ranked No. 35

Diabetes & Endocrinology:

  • North Carolina Children's Hospital at UNC, Chapel Hill, Ranked No. 13

  • Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center, Durham, Ranked No. 36

Gastroenterology & GI Surgery:

  • Levine Children's Hospital, Charlotte, Ranked No. 23

  • Duke Children's Hospital and Health Center, Durham, Ranked No. 28
