Currys PC World has always gone above and beyond for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The tech-peddling retail giant last year knocked a massive £700 off Samsung 4K TVs and price-matched most major retailer’s deals.
It’s a precarious sales tactic on one of the industry’s most competitive days, but it works. Last year, its website received more than half a million visitors before 6am and that number is only expected to increase this year.
There's still a few days to go until the big sales day, but the store is already tempting shoppers with a week-long series of ‘Black Tag’ deals on dozens of products. We've picked out our favourites below.
Tips on finding the best deals at Currys PC World
As a business, Currys PC World offers certain benefits that make shopping - let alone Black Friday shopping - easier and cheaper. Here's our favourite pointers.
Price match: Firstly, they have a price match promise that applies to most high street and online retailers in the space (Argos, John Lewis, Amazon, Tesco, Asda etc). This not only applies to price cuts but special voucher offers, meaning you are unlikely to find better deals anywhere. Simply request the price match within seven days of purchase (fortunately, this means a Black Friday deal purchased on November 23 will be safe against upcoming Cyber Monday discounts).
Timing: Currys usually releases its biggest deals as the clock strikes midnight on Black Friday. The 12am start might be unusual for seasoned shoppers, but a quick browse before bed might guarantee you the best deal on the internet.
Gift cards: Gift cards and voucher codes can be used on Black Friday purchases. As you prepare for the big weekend, use their Trade In scheme to turn your old tech into Currys gift cards. You could also use an app like Zeek (which allows you to buy unwanted gift cards at a discount) to ramp up your savings.
In-store help: Should you opt to shop in-store rather than online, Currys’ Team Knowhow will provide expert product set-up and installation for you. This is especially useful for shoppers who are investing in brand-new tech for the first time.

Samsung UE50NU7020 50" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV
You get a lot of bang for your buck with £200 off this 4K Smart TV, which boasts all the bells and whistles including high speed action with no blur, 360 degree design meaning the picture is great from any angle, and the Smart View app even turns your smartphone into a remote. We particularly like the fact the back is clean and smooth, with artful grooves which guide cables out of sight so it's ideal if you hate the unruly mess of wires. Jump from your DVD player, to Netflix, to YouTube, with no content more than three clicks away. Delivery is also free.
Shark DuoClean Powered Lift-Away IC160UK Cordless Vacuum Cleaner
Another one of the Telegraph's top-rated cordless vacuum cleaners, the Shark DuoClean competes with the Dyson V10 in the upper echelons of the cordless vacuum market, although our reviewer says it's not quite as good as its competitors and points out its loud noise and cumbersome 5.5kg weight. However, there's no denying the powerful suction, and the footswitch to remove the floorhead is a nice touch: if you want to quickly remove the wand, zap up some cobwebs on the ceiling, and click it back in place, you don't need to reach down. The wand also bends at the middle – great for reaching round corners. It's got a decent battery time of 50 minutes too, so you can whip round several rooms.
Morphy Richards Evoke One 4-Slice Toaster
An affordable, compact appliance, this is one of the best toasters on the market and is featured in the Telegraph's Recommended round-up of best toasters. There are seven heat settings, reheat and defrost functions and crumb trays (at the back, which isn't ideal). Our reviewer Tomé Morrissy-Swan found that there's no crumpet or bagel setting and the machine gets very hot, but cools down quickly. He found that toasting was fairly even across all types of bread, and it was easy to remove although a relatively high heat setting was required to achieve a desired toasting, so it takes a little longer than some competitors. This model comes in white, black and steel blue and red.
KitchenAid Artisan 5KSM150PSBLT Stand Mixer - Café Latte
If you've got your eye on the KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer, then now maybe the time to buy - this model has a saving of £274.99. This mixer exudes style and quality but it's an investment which comes at a price. But if you're prepared to pay, it won't disappoint and gets top marks in most reviews. According to Eric Chavot, consultant chef at Coda by Eric Chavot at the Royal Albert Hall: "‘At home, it’s got to be a KitchenAid. I’ve been using one for over 35 years and wouldn’t change it. KitchenAid has been 100% reliable, it’s simple to use and clean, and the range of attachments gives me all the core functionality I need, from whisking and whipping to mincing and grinding. Kenwood, Bosch, Sage all have models that are also good all-rounders." It also works well as a bread mixer.
Samsung ecobubble WW90J5456FX 9 kg 1400 Spin Washing Machine - Graphite
Samsung's renowned Ecobubble range of washing machines is known for getting rid of stubborn stains at low temperatures, which is good for both the environment and your bills. The Ecobubble technology involves mixing your detergent with water and air to create a bubbly mixture that removes dirt easily. The design of the drum prevents the snagging of clothes and the quick wash function allows you to wash 2kg in just 15 minutes. It has 14 different wash programmes. We rather like the stylish slate-black hue of this particular model, which makes a welcome change from stark white machines.
Lenovo IdeaPad 320 15.6" Laptop - White
For a simple Windows-running performer, the Telegraph recommends the Lenovo 320s which will meet your needs with a quad-core Intel® Apollo Lake Pentium processor and 4GB of RAM, plus 1 TB of hard drive space for storage. Power-wise it should be enough for most basic tasks, and it has a reasonable 5.5 hour battery life. At this price, it is a great laptop for students on a budget. The Lenovo 320s is fairly connection-friendly too and has a 4-in-1 memory card reader to transfer data to and from different SD cards.
