Headphones are such an important item for so many of us, whether we wear them to concentrate on work, get through a workout, or just soak up a good audiobook while we clean. Whether you’re in need of a new pair or ready to upgrade to something with superior sound, you may be able to find a dynamite set on sale.

Right now, as students return to the classrooms, we’re seeing more deals on headphones and earbuds than usual. Some of these models are available for the low prices we saw during Prime Day while others are a bit more expensive but still discounted from the usual price

But you can’t just look at the cost; the quality of the product you buy makes all the difference. We’ve combed through the sales, along with Consumer Reports’ test results, to help you find deals on headphones and earbuds that will actually be worth your money.

1MORE E1001 Triple Driver

For just about the best sound quality you can get from a portable headphones under $100, look no further than the 1More E1001 Triple Driver wired earbuds. You won’t find many competitors that deliver such impressive audio anywhere near this price. These headphones have a sleek design and come with extras, including a removable shirt clip, a carrying case, and nine sets of earpieces of varying shapes and sizes to help you find a good fit.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the same sale price we saw for Prime Day, which is about $15 better than usual.

Apple AirPods Pro

The AirPods Pro aren’t the best-scoring noise-canceling headphones in our ratings, but they might be the most popular. And unlike the earlier generations of AirPods (such as the second-generation ones listed above), the Pros deliver when it comes to performance, with solid sound quality and fantastic noise cancellation.

Bang & Olufsen Beoplay HX

Usually a whopping $500—more expensive than higher-rated headphones—this pair of cans becomes more reasonable at the sale price of 30 percent off. You can still find noise-canceling headphones that cost a bit less and arguably sound better, but for fans of the brand, these could make sense.

Beats by Dr. Dre Beats Fit Pro

These are true wireless headphones with great noise-cancellation and solid, if unimpressive audio quality. They aren’t the best Bluetooth headphones you can buy, but they do well in our ratings, and they should be especially appealing to iPhone users. Apple bought Beats a few years ago, so newer Beats headphones have all of the same seamless compatibility you can expect from AirPods.

beats by dre Beats Studio3 Wireless

These headphones deliver above-average sound and superb noise cancellation. At the usual price, they typically don’t make our lists of top picks because there are cheaper models that perform just as well or better. At $175 off, though, the Studio3 is definitely worth the cost of entry.

Bose QuietComfort 45

These headphones don’t score as well as Bose’s very best noise-canceling headphones, but they cost a lot less and they’re a good value at this price. You’ll get superb noise-cancellation and above-average audio quality, as well as convenient features like an ambient sound-monitoring mode to pipe in outside sound when you want to hear it.

Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700

This may be the best deal you’ll find on headphones for Amazon Prime Day. The 700 is a top-of-the-line product, and you usually have to pay close to $400 to bring it home. It gets outstanding ratings in our tests, and you won’t find better noise-canceling technology on the market, including features that let you dial back the amount of sound blocking to your preferences—all the way to the point of amplifying outside sound when you want to hear it. Bose advertises a generous battery life and a number of convenient features. You may not see another discount this good on this model anytime soon.

Sony WF-1000XM4

The Sony WF-1000XM4 is one of our top-rated pairs of noise-canceling earbuds, and this discount is a hefty one. If you’re in the market for some new audio gear, this model is worth your time. Expect audio quality and noise cancellation that ranks among the very best options in this category of products, a long battery life, and handy features such as an ambient sound-monitoring mode that lets you keep an ear on your environment.

Sony WH-1000XM4

This is an excellent deal on one of the most popular pairs of headphones on the market. In our tests, we found they can’t match up to the audio quality you’ll get from some other noise-canceling headphones, including the Bose Noise Cancelling 700—another one of our Prime Day picks. But with this discount, the Sony WH-1000XM4 is absolutely worth it. (Note that there’s a newer version of this model, the XM5, on the market.)
