Headphones

Apple AirPods Pro

The Apple AirPods Pro aren’t the best-scoring noise-canceling headphones in our ratings, but they might be the most popular. And unlike the earlier generations of AirPods, the Pros deliver when it comes to performance, with solid sound quality and fantastic noise cancellation.

Why it’s a good deal: If you’ve been thinking about picking up a pair, these are now back to the best price we’ve seen all year.

Sony WF-1000XM4

The Sony WF-1000XM4 is one of our top-rated pairs of noise-canceling earbuds, and this discount is a hefty one. If you’re in the market for some new audio gear, this model is worth your time. Expect audio quality and noise cancellation that ranks among the very best options in this category of products, a long battery life, and handy features such as an ambient sound-monitoring mode that lets you keep an ear on your environment.

Why it’s a good deal: This model doesn’t go on sale all that often. Note that we saw it sell for around $200 during Prime Day, so it may get cheaper during the next big sale.

Laptops and Chromebooks

LG UltraPC 15

The 15.6-inch LG UltraPC 15 has performance speeds that are faster than average to perform demanding tasks, including gaming. Its battery life is above average at 15.5 hours in web browsing tests. The display scores highly as well.

Why it’s a good deal: A 17 percent discount can make a big difference to your wallet.

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6

The Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH6 is a 15.6-inch laptop that’s fast enough to perform most tasks. Its battery life is below average in web browsing at 8.75 hours and average at 7 hours in video playback for models of similar size, so it may be best if you’re able to stay plugged in while you use it.

Why it’s a good deal: This gaming laptop typically costs significantly less than similar laptops CR has tested, and the discount makes it even more wallet-friendly.

HP Chromebook 13C-CA0013DX x360

This HP Chromebook 13C-CA0013DX x360 has an impressive battery life, lasting 16.75 hours in our web browsing tests. It’s an excellent choice for keeping up on work while out traveling, with its lower-than-average weight of just 2.8 pounds. It’s also a touchscreen, convertible model for added versatility.

Why it’s a good deal: This model originally retailed for close to $1,000, making Walmart’s price the most impressive we’ve seen.

Fitness Trackers & Smartwatches

Fitbit Inspire 2

The Fitbit Inspire 2 fitness tracker has been on sale since mid-April, but the price continues to fall. It’s now only $7 more than the lowest we’ve seen all year. It gets top marks from our testers for step-count and heart-rate accuracy, and it earns a spot among the best fitness trackers for its ease of use, pairing, and readability in low light. The Inspire 2 also has a very generous claimed battery life of 10 days (we don’t test that characteristic) and built-in GPS, a feature not found on many other fitness trackers.

Why it’s a good deal: This is not much more than the lowest price we’ve seen, which was closer to $60.

Fitbit Versa 3

If you’re looking for a versatile smartwatch under $200, the Fitbit Versa 3 may be a good option. It has built-in GPS, which allows you to go for a run or ride without taking your smartphone along, plus a blood oxygen sensor, which enhances its sleep-tracking capabilities. It also has a mic and a speaker that allow you to take calls via a Bluetooth connection to your smartphone. Our testers found the Versa 3 to be a solid performer for counting steps and tracking heart rate, and it’s easy to pair with a smartphone.

Why it’s a good deal: This has been on sale for a while but just dropped $10 for the big sale, making it the best price we’ve seen all year.

Garmin Forerunner 35

While technically a fitness tracker, the Garmin Forerunner 35 offers a watchlike feel. You get a 1.3-inch monochrome display that shows your step count and heart rate. The Forerunner 35 has built-in GPS and a claimed battery life of nine days, and it makes good on its water-resistance claim of 164 feet. In our testing, it receives top marks for heart-rate tracking and step-count accuracy as well as ease of use.

Why it’s a good deal: This is a great discount, but we’ve seen it go for under $100 in the past, so you may want to keep an eye out for another price drop.

Samsung Galaxy Watch4 (44mm)

The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 has a bright 1.3-inch AMOLED display that can showcase a variety of interesting watch faces. The model has a mic and speaker for handling phone calls. It offers a robust suite of health and fitness options, including a blood oxygen sensor, ECG monitoring (that could detect irregularities in heart rhythm), and even a sensor that’s claimed to measure body fat. It works best if you have a Samsung Android phone because that gives you access to all the Samsung Health features.

Why it’s a good deal: The current sale price is $20 better than we’ve seen in weeks.

Home and Kitchen Goods

Skil DL529303

The 20-volt Skil DL529303 does fast work of drilling holes and driving fasteners. It’s also light and comfortable to hold, and weighs a little over 3 pounds. It comes with only one Li-ion battery but charges up very quickly, and it has an LED work light and a belt hook. This model comes with a generous 5-year warranty.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the regular discount price. It rarely goes lower, and it doesn’t stay on sale for very long.

Keurig K-Elite K90

The Keurig K-Elite K90 is the best Keurig-branded pod brewer in our ratings. Its first-cup brew speed is a tad slow, but this Keurig makes up for it with great temperature and size consistency. It packs plenty of features, too, including programming, auto-shutoff, an iced-coffee brewing mode, a removable reservoir, and a height-adjustable drip tray.

Why it’s a good deal: Walmart and Amazon are selling this model for around what we saw during Prime Day.

Dyna-Glo DGN576DNC-D

If you love cooking over charcoal but haven’t bothered to upgrade, the Dyna-Glo DGN576DNC-D charcoal grill, one of the best charcoal grills CR has tested, will be a step up from that rusty old kettle grill. This is the standard sale price we tend to see throughout the season. The grill performs well in CR’s tests for cooking evenness, convenience, and cleaning. And it has a built-in bottle opener, a fun perk.

Why it’s a good deal: Every other retailer is selling this grill for closer to $300.

Smart and Bluetooth Speakers

Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen)

If you prefer Google to Amazon or Apple when it comes to smart home and virtual assistants, there’s a great deal on the Google Nest Hub. While it (like most smart speakers) doesn’t score well in CR’s tests for sound quality, it does perform well for versatility and ease of use.

Why it’s a good deal: This speaker typically retails for $100, making this a massive discount.

JBL Charge 5

Our testers find that the JBL Charge 5 has satisfying sound quality, it’s easy to use, and able to deliver enough volume for a midsized room. JBL says the Charge 5 is dust-resistant in addition to being water-resistant; these are claims that CR doesn’t test.

Why it’s a good deal: This sale price is the typical discount, but it comes and goes, so if you want this speaker, take advantage while it’s here.

Roku Streaming Stick 4K

Situated right below the Roku Streaming Stick 4K+ model, the Streaming Stick 4K has most of the same features—including improved WiFi, support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision HDR, and the ability to work with Amazon Alexa, Apple AirPlay, and Google Assistant voice assistant—but not the new rechargeable Voice Remote Pro remote control. Instead, you get a standard Roku voice remote, which lacks the hands-free operation, a headphone jack for private listening, and a lost-remote finder feature found on the Voice Remote Pro.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the usual discount we see for this model—it doesn’t get better than this.

Google Nest Learning Thermostat

The Google Nest Learning Thermostat has been around for a while, but it’s still one of the top models in our ratings, thanks to its impeccable automation skills. It also offers a ton of smart features, including an occupancy sensor, geofencing, and voice and app control via Amazon Alexa, Google Home/Assistant, and Samsung SmartThings. The sensor can be placed in another room away from the thermostat to better balance heating and cooling throughout your home. One note: If your current thermostat lacks a C-wire, you might also need Google’s wiring adapter to complete installation. It’s sold separately for $25 at AmazonBest BuyGoogle, and Walmart.

Why it’s a good deal: This is within a few dollars of the best price we’ve seen, but it’s only available for the copper model right now.

Google Nest Wifi (3-pack)

The Google Nest WiFi three-pack provides decent all-around performance, scoring well for throughput at near- and medium-range distances. It may fall a bit short in large homes, though, and it’s “only” WiFi 5 compatible. But at this price, it’s hard to complain.

Why it’s a good deal: This router system typically retails for $350, making this an impressive deal.
