Best Gas Grills to Buy at Lowe's

Models from Monument Grills, Permasteel, Weber, and others got high ratings and are available at Lowe's. We also share one grill to avoid.

Lowe’s offers an appealingly large stock of gas grills. Below, we’ve compiled a list of some of the very best gas grills you can buy there—including models from our latest tests in small, medium, and large sizes—as well as one to avoid.

“Lowe’s offers one of the broadest selections from Broil-King and Char-Broil, two brands that are exceptionally popular with CR members,” says CR’s market analyst Mark Allwood. “But don’t buy based upon those brand names alone. Not all their models fare well in our tests.”

If you’re unsure which size you need or which features matter, start with our grill buying guide. CR members can also jump right into our comprehensive gas grill ratings to compare models.

Best Gas Grills at Lowe's

We test grills from nearly every brand sold at Lowe’s, including Char-Broil, Dyna-Glo, Permasteel, and Weber.

But don’t assume that Lowe’s will always offer the best deal on other options. It’s possible that competing retailers might stock the same model at a lower price—and some of the models below may be temporarily out of stock. Therefore, it’s always wise to shop across retailers. We also offer expert picks for the best gas grills at Home Depot and the best gas grills at Walmart.

Lowe's Shopping Tips: Grills

Before checking out, keep in mind some of these tips from Consumer Reports’ secret shoppers.

  • Check inventory online before you shop. The grill you want might be at a store near you. If it’s not, Lowe’s will ship it free of charge to a store where you can pick it up.

  • Check the grill’s dimensions. Make sure it will fit in the space that you have in mind. You can check the dimensions on Lowe’s or on the grill’s summary page in our gas grill ratings. Lowe’s offers free assembly of full-sized grills if you buy in the store, and says its stores usually have assembled grills on hand.

  • Check your cargo space. Lowe’s will deliver an assembled grill to your home free of charge if it costs $499 or more. Otherwise, you’ll have to pay a delivery fee or you can haul the grill home yourself. (If your car isn’t big enough, you can rent a truck at some store locations for $19 for the first 75 minutes.)

  • Check the box the grill came in. If you ordered your grill online or picked up one that hasn’t been put together, make sure all of the parts are included and that nothing is broken or damaged before you start assembling the grill. If something is missing, call Lowe’s customer service (800-445-6937). If the wait for a replacement part is too long, call the manufacturer directly to see whether you can get it sooner.

Lowest-Scoring Grill at Lowe's

Char-Broil Patio Bistro 15601900

CR’s take: Even though the Char-Broil Patio Bistro 15601900 is budget-friendly, it’s a lackluster small grill. This model’s performance is disappointing in key areas, such as its temperature range and heating evenness, where it receives just Fair marks in CR’s lab tests. And although it preheats quickly and has a side burner—a nice feature to see at this price—these don’t make up for the fact that this grill is a subpar performer overall.
