Best Hemingway look-alike crowned in Florida
STORY: Donning a white sweater, a white beard and now the nickname of “Papa,” once held by the famous writer, Auvil said he feels a connection to Hemingway through his relationship with friends, his wife and his children.
Auvil said he shared other traits with Ernest Hemingway including a love of fishing and writing both fiction and nonfiction.
The 65-year-old real estate attorney bested 124 other entrants after two preliminary rounds and Saturday night’s finals judged by past winners at Sloppy Joe's Bar, a saloon where Hemingway and his friends frequently gathered.
