Whether you love them or hate them, memes are a big part of our culture and the internet. Throughout the past couple of years, memes have slowly taken over and have even become bigger newsmakers than some of our favorite celebs. Some of them have started thanks to big cultural moments that have stuck with us longer than they should, while others seem to have come out of nowhere thanks to one person's crazy idea. Either way, memes are definitely here to stay and are one of the best ways to show us how the year is going so far.

2020 might have just started, but there are still plenty of memes to go around. Here are the best memes of 2020 (so far)...

Cancelling plans is okay.

Lets be honest here, cancelling plans for a little bit of self-care is totally okay and this meme gave Twitter users plenty of reasons why it was fine to skip out on whatever they had planned. Of course, some of these might not 100 percent apply to you, like the Legacies example below, but it's still good to know that it might be useful for someone out there.

Which is the best seat?

No matter whether you're talking about planes, public transport, or even a restaurant, where you sit is actually more important than you think. Thankfully, Twitter user @gplatinum_ gave the public to answer the question with a Tweet that asked users to pick a seat on the NYC subway. The tweet ended up blowing up and inspired others to also ask the same question, but nothing was more divisive than the original. (The correct answer is 4)

Which character are you?

Instagram filters have always been a huge deal for fans of the service. But they were absolutely taken to the next level when random filters started taking over and fans used them as random quizzes to figure out which of their favorite characters they were. One of the best moments of the new filter was when Robin Williams' daughter, Zelda, played the "Which Disney character are you?" quiz and got his character, the Genie, from Aladdin.

The poet and the poem.

You know those moments when your favorite celebrity or character just says something so profound that you have to share it with the world? Thankfully, this meme will help you share that message with everyone on your timeline.

Bernie is once again...

The 2020 election has sparked a lot of memes and none have hit the internet harder that Bernie's "I'm once again" photo which was taken from one of his campaign videos.

Grammy outfit recreations.

Lots of people loved some of the incredible outfits that celebs wore to the Grammys, especially Billie Eilish, Lil Nas X, Ariana Grande, and Billy Porter. Some people even made some fan art in different styles to show them how it reminded them of their favorite childhood cartoons.

Billy Porter's Grammys hat.

Accessories are important on any red carpet and no one knows this better than Billy Porter who seriously stood out thanks to his amazing hat. If you haven't seen the iconic gif yet, his hat actually has the ability to open and close on command, which made for some really shady memes from fans on Twitter.

Billie Eilish confused face.

The Grammys were not only a meme-worthy show thanks to the incredible outfits, but also due to some of the reactions that some of our fave celebs had. One that stood out was Billie Eilish’s reaction as Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig presented an award. It looks like Billie was not happy with that was happening on stage and fans couldn't get enough of it.

Your music saved me.

Lets be honest. For a lot of people, their favorite artist has inspired them like no other. This meme helps fans get a chance to show how much they love them, even if some people might be surprised by who they're thanking.

#DollyPartonChallenge

While there is no proof that she was the only who actually came up with this meme, Dolly is certainly the reason why it became so popular. After posting her version on her Instagram, the meme blew up and people even made it for their favorite characters and celebs.
