Retailers are kicking off sales for the holiday weekend, with a wide range of promotions on major appliances (as well as deals on mattresses and electronics).

Whether you’re remodeling your laundry room, you need a new vacuum, or you’re looking to upgrade an appliance that has seen better days, you’ll find markdowns advertised at home centers, home-goods stores, and independent retailers.

The thing is, a deal is only a deal if the product in question aces its job. So we set out to compare the advertised sales with our comprehensive ratings for dishwashersrefrigerators, ranges, vacuums, and washing machines.

So far, we’ve found decent markdowns on a variety of these appliances. Read on for our analysis of the best deals. We’ll continue to update this list as more sales are announced.

As you shop, keep in mind that most major retailers will match a competitor’s advertised prices.

Looking for something else? For the best deals on CR-tested air fryers and multi-cookers, along with other weekly markdowns, check our roundup of this week’s best home and kitchen deals.

For each category, the appliances are listed in alphabetical order.

• Ranges

• Vacuums
• Washing Machines

If you’re considering buying an appliance that’s not included here, be sure to cross-check the models with our full appliance ratings to see how they compare with the competition in terms of performance and price.

Best Dishwasher Sales

We don’t see many deep cuts on dishwashers during Presidents Day sales events, but there are a handful of top-rated models from CR’s tests that are marked down around 30 percent this holiday weekend.

Kenmore Top-Panel Dishwasher
The deal:
$630 at Sears
CR’s test results: Kenmore 14573
This Kenmore dishwasher is one of the best performers among budget dishwashers in our tests. It lacks adjustable tines and the filter must be cleaned manually, but you get an adjustable upper rack, a third rack for extra utensils, a stainless-steel interior, and hidden controls for a sleek look. The brand badge is nowhere in sight, so this model will blend in with the rest of your kitchen suite no matter which other brands you have. This deal saves you $420 off the list price.

KitchenAid Top-Panel Dishwasher
The deal: $997 to $1,000 at Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: KitchenAid KDTM404ESS
This KitchenAid dishwasher is a very strong performer among models priced on the higher side. A standout characteristic is its run time—it has one of the shortest normal wash cycles in its class, at 110 minutes. Features include an adjustable upper rack, a self-cleaning filter, a stainless-steel interior, hidden controls, adjustable tines, and a third rack. This deal shaves $400 off the retail price.

Maytag Front-Panel Dishwasher
The deal: $474 to $480 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Costco, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Maytag MDB4949SHZ
This budget Maytag model excels at drying and is relatively quiet, too. It has a stainless-steel interior. Though its 155-minute cycle time is on the long side, this model is a solid performer. It’s also one of the few we test in this price range with a self-cleaning filter. This dishwasher is already a good deal at its normal price; on sale, you’re paying $275 less.

Whirlpool Top-Panel Dishwasher
The deal: $424 to $430 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Whirlpool WDT730PAHZ
This modestly priced option from Whirlpool offers a lot of value even at its normal list price. On sale, it’s an even better deal, with savings up to $275. The upper rack is adjustable to fit tall bottles, and the bottom rack has adjustable tines, so you can toss in even the most awkwardly sized pots.

Best Range Sales

This holiday weekend, there are dozens of deals on gas and electric ranges from some of the biggest retailers. In addition to smaller savings on budget-friendly models, you’ll see some of the largest discounts on slick slide-ins and double-oven models.

Frigidaire Electric Range
The deal:
$543 to $550 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Frigidaire FFEF3054TS
You’ll find a handful of stainless steel ranges for $600 or less, but generally, you’ll have to make a lot of compromises on performance and features. That’s not the case with this Frigidaire, in part because it’s really an $800 range, discounted for the holiday. In addition to solid performance, this range has two high-powered burners, a warming element, and a storage drawer.

Frigidaire Gas Range
The deal:
$893 to $899 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Frigidaire FFGH3054US
Gas slide-in ranges tend to be quite pricey, and it’s rare to find one for under $1,000. This Frigidaire is on sale for about $400 off the regular price. You’ll give up some features to get a slide-in at this price—this model doesn’t have convection or a storage drawer—but it does still have five burners, including a griddle burner, and continuous grates on the cooktop.

GE Electric Range
The deal:
$1,092 to $1,100 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: GE JS760SLSS
This GE has the single largest holiday discount of any model featured here, with sale prices about $800 below list price. It’s a slide-in, with front-mounted controls and no back panel, which gives it a polished look that’s reminiscent of a pro-style range. It has a convection oven and a storage drawer, as well as a warming element, two high-powered burners, and even a temperature probe in the oven.

LG Gas Range
The deal:
$1,294 to $1,299 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: LG LDG4313ST
If you’re looking for a double-oven gas range, this is one of the best models to buy, particularly while it’s on sale for about $400 off its regular price. In addition to two ovens, both of which have convection, this range has five burners, including a built-in central griddle burner. It also has continuous cast-iron grates on the cooktop, which make it easy to slide a pan from one burner to another.

Samsung Gas Range
The deal:
$625 to $629 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Samsung NX58H5600SS
This Samsung gas range is a stellar deal at this price—you’re getting $270 to $470 off what you’d normally pay at the retailers above. In addition to solid performance in our test labs, this model packs in quite a few features, including a convection oven, continuous grates, and five burners, one of which is a built-in griddle.

Whirlpool Electric Range
The deal:
$1,094 to $1,100 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Whirlpool WGE745C0FS
This Whirlpool may not be discounted as much as other models here—the sale price is about $250 less than what you’d pay normally—but it’s still a good value. On sale, this electric range is about the least expensive you’ll find. In addition to two ovens, both with convection, this Whirlpool has two high-powered burners and a warming element.

Best Refrigerator Sales

There are plenty of refrigerators on sale this weekend, with models from most major brands on sale at all the big-name retailers. Sears has also discounted a handful of Kenmore models, which are exclusive to the retailer. Expect the biggest savings on larger, wider refrigerators, with more modest savings on smaller 30- and 33-inch offerings.

Frigidaire Gallery Top-Freezer Refrigerator, 30 Inches Wide
The deal:
$875 to $881 at AJ Madison, Appliances Connection, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Sears
CR’s test results: Frigidaire Gallery FGTR2037TF
This Frigidaire Gallery top-freezer is on sale for a whopping $600 below the regular price at a number of retailers. In addition to a sleek, stainless steel exterior, this model has among the largest claimed capacities of any 30-inch top-freezer refrigerator in our ratings.

Kenmore Elite Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator, 30 Inches Wide
The deal:
$1,500 at Sears
CR’s test results: Kenmore Elite 79023
For the holiday weekend, Sears is knocking $500 off the list price on this handsome bottom-freezer refrigerator. It does a great job of maximizing storage in a small package—despite its narrow footprint, it offers close to 22 cubic feet of space. It has a door alarm, digital controls, and spillproof shelves.

Kenmore Elite Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator, 33 Inches Wide
The deal:
$1,400 at Sears
CR’s test results: Kenmore Elite 79043
While this Kenmore Elite bottom-freezer is larger and several inches wider than the Kenmore above, it’s $100 cheaper this weekend because the regular price has been slashed by $700. As with the model above, this model has a door alarm, digital controls, and spillproof shelving.

LG French-Door Refrigerator, 30 Inches Wide
The deal:
$1,615 to $1,709 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: LG LFC2270ST
This slender LG French-door is on sale for about $250 to $350 off the list price. It hits the sweet spot for smaller kitchens by maximizing space—in our test, it ties with one other model for having the largest claimed capacity for a 30-inch French-door model. It has a door alarm, digital controls, and spillproof shelves.

LG French-Door Refrigerator, 36 Inches Wide
The deal:
$2,795 to $2,799 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: LG LRFDS3006S
This attractive full-sized French-door is being offered for about $600 off the everyday price. It’s packed with features, including through-the-door water and ice, door-in-door access to drinks and condiments (which are stored in the door to prevent the need to open the entire fridge door). It also has spillproof shelves and filters for both the air and water.

LG Side-by-Side Refrigerator, 36 Inches Wide
The deal:
$1,495 to $1,499 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: LG LSXS26366S
At nearly $500 off its list price, this full-sized LG side-by-side refrigerator is a great deal. It has digital controls, a door alarm, and spillproof shelves, as well as features such as filtered through-the-door water and a built-in icemaker. It also has door-in-door access to the fresh food compartment.

Best Vacuum Sales

There are some good deals to be had this weekend on robotic and stick vacuums that perform well in CR’s tests. For more on vacuums, see our full vacuum ratings and recommendations.

Dyson Upright
The deal: $360 at Amazon and Walmart
CR’s test results: Dyson Ball Animal 2
The 17-pound Dyson Ball Animal 2 earns top marks for removing pet hair—a good thing, considering its name. It’s also a beast on bare floors and almost as good on carpet. This vacuum won’t spew debris back into the room, although emptying the bin can stir up some dust. It comes with attachments that help you get into tight spaces. This vacuum usually sells for $400.

Dyson Upright
The deal: $300 at Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Macy’s
CR’s test results: Dyson Ball Multi-Floor 2
The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2, 20 percent off this weekend, is aces at cleaning bare floors and picking up pet hair. At 16 pounds it’s easy to maneuver around a room, although it’s noisier than some vacuums. It comes with some handy attachments, including an upholstery brush and a crevice tool. It’s a bagless design, so emptying the bin can be a bit messy.

Dyson Stick Vacuum
The deal:
 $350 at Amazon and Walmart
CR’s test results: Dyson Cyclone V10 Motorhead
The Dyson Cyclone V10 Motorhead is superb at cleaning carpets and bare floors, and at getting rid of pet hair. It makes a bit of a racket as you work, but you’ll appreciate the clean emissions (this vacuum does a great job of trapping dust inside). Like the other Dyson stick vacuums in CR’s tests, this one’s Overall Score takes a hit because of its low rating for predicted reliability, based on data from our latest member survey. You’re saving $50 off the usual price.

Dyson Stick Vacuum
The deal: $240 at Walmart; $250 at Target
CR’s test results:
 Dyson V7 Motorhead
At $160 off the usual price, this may be the time to get your hands on a Dyson stick vacuum. This one is a good choice if you have a combination of carpeting and bare floors in your home and also have a pet, because it performed impressively on all those tests. It also scoots easily along the edges, leaving little to nothing behind. It operates quietly and cleanly, keeping most of what it sucks up in the bin. But as with other Dyson stick vacs, the score for this one suffers from its poor reliability showing in our member survey.

Eufy Robotic Vacuum
The deal:
 $170 at Amazon
CR’s test results: Eufy RoboVac 11s Max
The Eufy RoboVac 11s Max cleans carpet well in our tests (and it leaves very little pet hair on the test rug). It does even better on bare floors. Though it’s not the most efficient cleaner—testers note that it sometimes scatters debris—it eventually gets the job done, operates quietly, and has a cliff sensor, so it won’t tumble down stairs. This robotic vacuum isn’t WiFi-enabled and can’t be used with a smartphone app. You’ll save $50 off the usual price when you click the on-page coupon.

iRobot Robotic Vacuum
The deal: $330 at Best Buy
CR’s test results: iRobot Roomba 890
The iRobot Roomba 890 earns top scores for cleaning carpet and bare floors, and you’ll appreciate how quietly it navigates a room without getting trapped under a piece of furniture or tumbling down stairs. But if you have a pet, you’ll have to manually remove the fur from the brush, and our testers give this model only so-so scores for ease of use, meaning the instructions could be easier to follow. But this deal represents $170 off the usual price.

iRobot Robotic Vacuum
The deal: $330 to $340 at AmazonBest BuyOverstockTarget, and Walmart
CR’s test results: iRobot Roomba e5
This high-scoring model usually costs almost $400, so at $330 it’s not exactly a steal—but it’s still a good deal. This Roomba isn’t as “smart” as the top-of-the-line iRobot Roomba i7+, but it performs well at cleaning carpet and bare floors. It’s also a champ at navigating a room, then returning to its base for recharging. It has a convenient carrying handle, but if you prefer a model with a remote, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Best Washing Machine Sales

There are some great deals on top-performing washers of all types this Presidents Day weekend—front-loaders, HE top-loaders, and agitator top-loaders. Check them out below. We also list the matching dryers if we’ve tested them, in case you are looking to buy a set.

Electrolux Front-Loader
The deal:
$693 to $698 at AJ Madison, Home Depot, and Lowe's
CR’s test results: Electrolux EFLW427UIW
At around $700, this is a great deal; the price is even lower than it was on Black Friday. This washer removed most of the tough stains from our test swatches, and it’s pretty gentle on fabrics. This machine is noisy, though. Wash time is 90 minutes, and claimed capacity is 4.3 cubic feet.
Matching dryer: Electrolux EFME427UIW (electric) and Electrolux EFMG427UIW (gas). Electrolux gas dryers earn a subpar rating for reliability, based on data from CR’s member survey, and CR cannot recommend them at this time.

GE Agitator Top-Loader
The deal:
$492 to $497 at AJ Madison, Amazon, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: GE GTW465ASNWW
The washers in our tests that cost less than $500 aren’t usually worth calling out, but this GE is. Cleaning is typical for an agitator, meaning it can handle normal loads but will have a tougher time with heavy stains (pretreating them will help). But where it differs is speed, taking just 35 minutes to do a load—half the time of some other tested models. Claimed capacity is 4.5 cubic feet.
Matching dryer: GE GTD45EASJWS (electric) and GE GTD45GASJWS (gas). Note that GE’s gas dryers cannot be recommended at this time because of a subpar predicted reliability rating, based on data from CR’s member survey.

Kenmore HE Top-Loader
The deal:
$650 at Sears
CR’s test results: Kenmore 28132
We’ve seen this washer for $800, so $650 is a good deal, given that its claimed capacity is 5.3 cubic feet. That’s among the largest in our top-loader ratings, and big enough to fit a king-size comforter (a minimum capacity of 4.6 cubic feet can fit one). A bigger capacity means you can do more laundry at one time. Wash time is 60 minutes using the normal wash/heavy-soil setting.
Matching dryer: Kenmore 68132 (electric) and Kenmore 78132 (gas)

Kenmore Front-Loader
The deal:
$750 at Sears
CR’s test results: Kenmore 41362
A CR Best Buy, this front-loader delivers top performance in several tests and has a claimed capacity of 4.5 cubic feet. The wash time is a lengthy 105 minutes using the normal wash/heavy soil setting, but you can cut time using the normal wash/normal-soil setting. Or use the Accela Wash option—in our tests, cleaning was just as good.

LG Front-Loader
The deal: $645 to $649 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: LG WM3500CW
This washer was a good deal when it was $800 a month ago, given that high-scoring washers often go for around $900 or more. So at $650, it’s a great deal. Cleaning is top-notch. However, wash time is 105 minutes. Claimed capacity is 4.5 cubic feet.
Matching dryer: LG DLE3500W (electric) and LG DLG3501W (gas)

LG Front-Loader
The deal:
$745 to $750 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: LG WM3700HWA
This washer performs similarly to the LG above in every test and has the same capacity of 4.5 cubic feet. But it’s faster, clocking in at 95 minutes in our tests using the normal-wash/heavy-soil setting.
Matching dryer: LG DLEX3700W (electric) and LG DLGX3701W (gas)

LG HE Top-Loader
The deal:
$628 at Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: LG WT7100CW
Even when this washer sold for $100 more, it was a CR Best Buy, combining impressive performance and an appealing price. This HE top-loader is one of the few we test to ace our washing performance tests. Wash time is 75 minutes, and claimed capacity is 4.5 cubic feet.
Matching dryer:
LG DLE7100W (electric) and LG DLG7101W (gas)

Maytag Front-Loader
The deal:
$679 at Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Maytag MHW5630HW
A CR Best Buy even when it was selling for $810, this Maytag is going for about $130 less now. This front-loader performs similarly to the Maytag below in most tests. You’ll hear it working, but it shouldn’t disturb you with annoying, sustained noises. Capacity is 4.5 cubic feet.
Matching dryer: Maytag MED5630HW (electric) and Maytag MGD5630HW (gas)

Maytag Front-Loader
The deal:
Around $730 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Maytag MHW6630HW
For a front-loader, this is a tempting price, and down from $900 in recent months. It’s one of a handful of front-loaders to nail our vibration tests. Cycle time is 95 minutes, and claimed capacity is a generous 4.8 cubic feet.
Matching dryer: Maytag MED6630HW (electric) and Maytag MGD6630HW (gas)

Maytag Agitator Top-Loader
The deal:
$643 to $649 at AJ Madison, Best Buy, and Lowe’s
CR’s test results: Maytag MVWB865GW
We’ve seen this washer sell for $900 in recent months; this sale price matches the Black Friday prices we saw. Like many agitator top-loaders we test, it can handle most loads well but has a tougher time with heavy stains. And unlike most agitator washers, this one has a large capacity: 5.2 cubic feet. Wash time is 70 minutes.
Matching dryer: Maytag MEDB835DW (electric) and Maytag MGDB835DW (gas)

Samsung Front-Loader
The deal:
$798 at Best Buy and Home Depot
CR’s test results: Samsung WF45K6500AW
Front-loaders are often your most expensive option among washer types, so this one for $800 is a good deal. This front-loader offers top performance in a number of our tests. Claimed capacity is 4.5 cubic feet. The wash time is 100 minutes using the normal wash/heavy-soil setting. Use the normal-soil setting when possible—it’s faster—and try the Super Speed option; our tests found that it’s quicker and cleans just as well.
Matching dryer: Samsung DV45K6500EW (electric) and Samsung DV45K6500GW (gas). Note that Samsung electric dryers earn a subpar predicted reliability rating, based on data from CR’s member survey, and CR can’t recommend them at this time.
