The deep discounts we saw over Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be long gone, but you can still find decent deals on mattresses over Presidents Day weekend. (Not to mention appliances and plenty of other sales.)
CR combed through advertised sales—many of which have already begun—looking for savings on mattresses that performed well in Consumer Reports’ mattress tests.
Below, we walk through a number of options from brands including Allswell, Casper, Charles P. Rogers, Essentia, Nectar, Purple, Sleep Number, Stearns & Foster, Tuft & Needle, and Tulo that are worth a look.
If a particular mattress you’re shopping for isn’t on sale, look for promotions on the manufacturer’s website or try to negotiate a better price. (You can haggle with online retailers for a mattress deal, too.) See our comprehensive mattress ratings for specific test results, including how well a mattress supports various body types and sleep styles, how firm a mattress is, and how well it holds its shape over time.
The deal: $548.25 for a queen-size Allswell Luxe Hybrid mattress at Allswell if you sign up for the newsletter and use the code PREZ
CR’s test results: Allswell Luxe Hybrid mattress
The Allswell Luxe Hybrid is likely to be one of the least expensive mattresses you’ll find on sale over the long weekend. This innerspring mattress (typically sold for $645) offers decent support for most body types and sleep styles, and fares well in our stability tests—with this mattress, your partner shouldn’t jostle you around much in your sleep. This deal lasts until Feb. 18.
The deal: $1,200 for a queen-size Green, $1,600 for a queen-size Green Pillowtop using code FLAG200 at avocadogreenmattress.com
CR’s test results: Green, Green Pillowtop
Avocado makes some top-notch mattresses—and this is one of the larger discounts we’ve seen since Black Friday. (Typically, the Green goes for $1,400 and the Green Pillowtop is priced at $1,700.) Both Avocado mattresses support a wide range of side and back sleeper body types. On our firmness scale, the Avocado Green is very firm, while the pillow top is medium firm. This offer is available through Feb. 24.
The deal: 10 percent off all mattresses using the code PRES10, or $1,166 for a queen-size hybrid at Casper
CR’s test results: Casper Hybrid
Casper’s Hybrid is an innerspring mattress with several layers of foam. It offers a good night’s rest to all the sleeper sizes and styles we test for. It’s on sale until Feb. 17 for $129 off its typical price of $1,295. (CR paid full price when we bought this mattress to test.) CR subscribers say Casper mattresses are a great value, and more than half of those surveyed would buy another.
Charles P. Rogers
The deal: $200 off any mattress, or $800 for a queen, using code BFS2019 at Charles P. Rogers
CR’s test results: Charles P. Rogers St. Regis
At Charles P. Rogers, you can get a slight deal on its St. Regis mattress. (CR paid $965 for the queen mattress we bought to test.) The St. Regis offers superb support for both petite side and back sleepers, and slightly less support for average and large/tall back sleepers. On our firmness scale, this mattress is on the firmer side.
The deal: $2,399 for a queen-size at myessentia.com (20 percent off all mattresses at myessentia.com)
CR’s test results: Essentia Stratami
The Essentia Stratami is one of the top-ranking foam mattresses in CR’s ratings, and it has held a commanding spot for several years. This isn't the lowest price we've seen (we paid $2,078 for it), but it’s still a decent savings on the list price of $2,999. It’s great all-around for sleepers of all sizes and sleep styles. This mattress meets two organic standards: the Global Organic Latex Standard and the Global Organic Textile Standard.
The deal: $699 for a queen-size Nectar Memory Foam at Nectar when you enter your email address
CR’s test results: Nectar Memory Foam
This foam mattress from Nectar does a decent job of supporting most body sizes and sleep styles, and is fairly firm. Our tests also show that this mattress doesn’t retain warmth and should dissipate body heat through the night. This deal is valid through Feb. 24.
The deal: $999 for a queen-size at purple.com
CR’s test results: Purple
Purple is discounting its queen-size namesake mattress by $100 through the end of Presidents Day weekend. Purple’s The Purple foam mattress is fairly soft compared with other mattresses. It doesn’t support large and tall sleepers as well as other mattresses do, so if you fall into that category, look for another option.
The deal: $899 for a queen-size c2 at sleepnumber.com
CR test results: Sleep Number c2
At Sleep Number’s retail stores and website, you’ll find the highly rated Sleep Number c2 bed marked down to $899. That’s $100 off what CR paid, $999. The Sleep Number c2 tests well for both side and back support for sleepers of all sizes, and it’s a medium-firm mattress. This sale is available through Feb. 23.
Stearns & Foster
The deal: $1,899 for a queen-size Lux Estate Cassatt
CR test results: Lux Estate Cassatt
From now until Feb. 24, you can buy the Lux Estate Cassatt for $1,899. (That’s what CR paid for this mattress, though the list price is $2,300.) It’s terrific at supporting back sleepers of all sizes but slightly less supportive for side sleepers. Based on our firmness scale, this mattress is medium-firm but slightly on the softer side.
Tuft & Needle
The deal: $820 for a queen-size Mint at tuftandneedle.com
CR’s test results: Tuft & Needle Mint
On Tuft & Needle’s site through Feb. 24, you’ll find the highly rated Tuft & Needle Mint mattress on sale for $175 off its usual price of $995. In our tests, the Mint is able to support a range of body sizes, regardless of whether you sleep on your side or your back. This mattress is slightly on the softer side.
The deal: $449 for a queen-size mattress ($150 off) at mattressfirm.com
CR’s test results: Medium Firm
This bed-in-a-box mattress might be one of the least expensive models you’ll find on sale for Presidents Day—and it’s $50 cheaper than it was on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The Tulo Medium Firm is terrific at maintaining its support for the duration of a simulated eight to 10 years of use. It’s unclear when this deal ends.
