Though you won’t see Black Friday–level discounts, you can still find some great refrigerators marked down over Labor Day weekend.

“You're not going to see as many deals as you will in a few months, and average sale prices are a bit higher this year than they were last year,” says Nish Suvarnakar, a Consumer Reports market analyst covering refrigerators. "But if you need a refrigerator now, there are plenty of deals to be had.”

To help you shop wisely and save time, we combed through dozens of refrigerators on sale at AJ Madison, Appliances Connection, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and Sears, and highlighted models near the top of our comprehensive refrigerator ratings. They include picks from widely sold brands, including Frigidaire, GE, Kenmore, LG, Samsung, and Whirlpool.

As we’ve noticed over the past few sales events, most of the deepest discounts are on French-door refrigerators. But we also found a good number of top-freezer, bottom-freezer, and side-by-side models with solid markdowns.

We didn't find noteworthy refrigerator deals at Best Buy, which is odd—typically we find some decent deals advertised there.

All of the prices below are on offer now and should hold through Labor Day weekend. Sales at Home Depot and Lowe’s last until Sept. 11.

All of the savings marked below are off the retailers' list price.

We’ve organized this list by refrigerator configuration, and the models are listed alphabetically (not in order of CR rank). CR members can click on each model name to see detailed ratings and reviews.

Best Top-Freezer Deals

We haven’t seen many deep sales on top-freezers, and none are discounted as heavily as higher-end models.

Frigidaire FFTR1821TD
The deal: $698 at Home Depot
Savings: $201
Budget-conscious shoppers looking for a dependable top-freezer should consider the Frigidaire FFTR1821TD on sale at Home Depot. It's a solid deal, and even at full price this model earns a designation as a CR Best Buy thanks to its combination of performance and value.

Kenmore 79433
The deal: $900 at Sears
Savings: $880
As top-freezers go, you might think the Kenmore 79433 is a bit pricey—even with this significant discount. But the higher price gets you a stainless steel finish and a few features that are hard to find in a top-freezer, including an internal water dispenser and an icemaker. This Kenmore doesn’t offer great temperature uniformity (it rates a Fair in that test), so it will be more susceptible to warm and cold spots. But our survey shows that Kenmore top-freezers are extremely reliable.

Whirlpool WRT511SZDM
The deal: $778 at Home Depot
Savings: $321
At about $320 off, this basic Whirlpool top-freezer is a solid deal. It performs decently in our tests, earning a Very Good rating overall, and has a stainless steel finish. It doesn't come with any of the bells and whistles that some of the other refrigerators on sale have, but you can add an icemaker for an additional $100.

Best Bottom-Freezer Deals

We found a handful of bottom-freezers with solid savings, all from AJ Madison and Sears.

GE GDE21ESKSS
The deal: $1,092 at AJ Madison
Savings: $558
At just shy of $1,100, this GE bottom-freezer is a great buy. It excels at temperature control in our tests, and GE bottom-freezers are quite reliable, according to our latest member survey. This models comes in a stainless steel finish and features an icemaker, spillproof shelves, and digital controls.

Kenmore 69313
The deal: $900 at Sears
Savings: $500
It’s rare to find a bottom-freezer that costs less than $1,000, which makes the Kenmore 69313 a steal. It receives a CR Best Buy designation thanks to its combination of stellar performance and value. You’ll get a stainless steel finish, an icemaker, and digital controls, all rare in the sub-$1,000 range.

Kenmore Elite 79043
The deal: $1,100 at Sears
Savings: $1,000
This Kenmore Elite bottom-freezer is one of the best refrigerators we've tested in this category, making it a terrific buy. It comes in a stainless steel finish and has an icemaker, spillproof shelving, and digital controls, all of which sweeten the deal.

Whirlpool WRB322DMBM
The deal: $1,094 at AJ Madison
Savings: $505
Another bottom-freezer, the Whirlpool WRB322DMBM does well in our performance tests, especially when it comes to thermostat control and temperature uniformity. Like the other bottom-freezer deals we found, this model comes with an icemaker, spillproof shelves, and digital controls, wrapped up in a stainless steel finish.

Best Side-by-Side Deals

Good side-by-side deals are hard to come by, but we found three that stand out.

Frigidaire FGSC2335TF
The deal: $1,198 at Home Depot
Savings: $501
The Frigidaire FGSC2335TF is a superb side-by-side at this sale price. It performs well in our lab tests, earning a Very Good rating for thermostat control. This model features an external water/ice dispenser, a stainless steel finish, and even an air filter, something you usually only see on higher-end models.

GE GSS25GSHSS
The deal: $1,099 at Lowe's
Savings: $500
This GE side-by-side is a terrific option for shoppers on a budget. It performs fairly well in our lab tests, and GE side-by-sides rate a middle-of-the-road Good for predicted reliability in our latest member survey. This GE features a stainless steel finish, a through-the-door water/ice dispenser, spillproof shelving, and digital controls.

Whirlpool WRS325SDHZ
The deal: $1,094 at AJ Madison
Savings: $405
This Whirlpool side-by-side is worth consideration. It does fairly well in our performance tests, even netting a rating of Excellent for temperature uniformity. When you add in a stainless steel finish and through-the-door water/ice dispenser, this fridge becomes a great choice for cost-conscious shoppers.

Best Three-Door French-Door Deals

There are dozens of three-door French-door refrigerators on sale, but only a handful combine great value with top performance. Here are five models that offer both.

GE GNE27JSMSS
The deal: $1,292 at AJ Madison
Savings: $681
This GE French-door is going for a few hundred dollars below its average sale price. It does fairly well in our performance tests, but note that GE French-doors earn just a Fair rating for reliability in our surveys. And though it doesn’t have a through-the-door dispenser, it does come with an internal water dispenser, an icemaker, and a full-width deli drawer.

Kenmore Elite 73163
The deal: $2,400 at Sears
Savings: $1,500
The Kenmore Elite 73163 is bit pricey compared with the other deals we found, but it earns high marks in our performance tests and comes packed with premium features. The exhaustive feature set includes a door-in-door design, stainless steel finish, uniquely adjustable shelves (that can be raised or lowered without removing food), and a through-the-door water/ice dispenser.

LG LFXS24623S
The deal: $1,796 at Home Depot
Savings: $903
This LG French-door is a solid buy. It offers stellar performance for the price, with an Excellent rating for thermostat control and strong scores in our other tests. Its only weak spot is energy efficiency, where we find it to be less efficient than many competitors. Still, this model gives you a lot for the money, including a through-the-door water/ice dispenser, air filter, and spillproof shelves.

Samsung RF263TEAESG
The deal: $1,499 at Lowe’s
Savings: $1,150
We've seen this Samsung French-door priced around $1,500 through much of the year. This model aces our thermostat control and temperature uniformity tests, which are the two critical tests of a fridge’s performance. It features a darker stainless steel finish, digital controls, through-the-door water/ice dispenser, and uniquely adjustable shelving that can be raised and lowered without removing food.

Samsung RF265BEAESG
The deal: $2,299 at Lowe's
Savings: $810
This French-door is one of Samsung's Family Hub models, meaning there's a touch screen on the door with apps for organizing family calendars, ordering groceries, and looking up recipes. This black stainless steel Family Hub model is a great buy. It excels in all of our lab tests, and Samsung French-doors earn a Good rating for predicted reliability in our latest survey.

Best Four-Door French-Door Deals

We found four deals worth noting in this category, all of which come in under $2,000.

Haier HRQ16N3BGS
The deal: $1,099 at Lowe’s
Savings: $500
This Haier is one of the most affordable four-door French-doors on the market, and you can get it for about one-third off its list price. It doesn’t offer much in terms of features, just a stainless steel finish and digital controls, but its performance is solid. Our testers give it strong ratings across the board, with the exception of ease of use, where it earns a Fair.

Kenmore 72595
The deal: $1,700 at Sears
Savings: $2,260
The savings are a bit deceptive here—we typically see this Kenmore French-door priced around $1,600. Still, $1,700 is a good price for a four-door French-door. This Kenmore comes in a stainless steel finish and has two individual freezer drawers for more organization. It’s a smart fridge, meaning it works with the Kenmore Smart app, as well as Amazon Alexa, for adjusting settings and checking your fridge’s status. It performs well in our lab tests but isn’t the most energy-efficient when compared with the competition.

LG LMXS28626S
The deal: $1,995 at AJ Madison and Appliances Connection
Savings: $1,194
Though the LG LMXS28626S is one of the pricier fridges on this list, it's still a great deal on a higher-end model. It performs well in almost all of our performance tests, with the only exception being its mediocre energy efficiency. This LG also offers a ton of features, including a through-the-door water/ice dispenser, air filter, spillproof shelving, smartphone app control, and voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Samsung RF24FSEDBSR
The deal: $1,799 at Lowe's
Savings: $1,700
At almost half off its list price, this four-door Samsung does well in almost all of our lab tests. Just like the LG above, the exception here is energy efficiency, where it earns a middling Good rating. Unlike the other four-door models on this list, this Samsung features a temperature-adjustable middle drawer, which is handy for entertaining (it can be adjusted for party platters, cold drinks, and more). It also comes with a through-the-door water/ice dispenser, uniquely adjustable shelving, spillproof shelving, and digital controls.
