Best restaurants, places to eat on Georgia Avenue in West Palm Beach

Georgia Avenue in West Palm Beach is evolving from its industrial roots to include high-end designers and antique dealers that are open to the public for shopping.

While the changes to a more retail-oriented street are still in their infancy, there are a few places on Georgia Avenue to grab a bite to eat during a long day perusing estate sales at Kofski's and James & Jeffrey Antiques, choosing wallpaper at Meg Braff's new store and buying 18th Century European furnishings and garden planters at Authentic Provence.

The avenue's restaurants aren't totally traditional. You may find yourself in a colorful remodeled garage, sitting outside near a food truck or even in a gas station. But that's what Georgia Avenue is all about right now, gritty but cool.

The Peach is one of Palm Beach County's newest art collectives and music venues. It also happens to have great barbecue at Troy's. The Peach is just north of the Southern Boulevard bridge overpass of Georgia Avenue and is a destination itself for music and art shows. But if you're hungry, Troy's offers ribs and brisket, chicken wings, pulled pork, home-made sides and cold beer.

Don't let the Marathon gas station facade dissuade you from going inside for authentic Cuban fare at Delicias Cuban Bakery.

The restaurant, which has two other locations in Lake Worth Beach, has a surprisingly large menu for being tucked inside a gas station including cafecitos, pastelitos, empanadas and more. They have multiple kinds of sandwiches including the traditional Cuban sandwich with ham, pork, Swiss cheese, pickles and yellow mustard, and a simple pavo y queso, or turkey lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayonaise.
