Here are the best spots in Sacramento to cheer on California International Marathon runners

Many runners arduously prepped and trained for the 26.2-mile California International Marathon — but they won’t be the only people pouring extraordinary effort into Sunday’s race through Sacramento.

No doubt family, friends and supporters are preparing to thunderously cheer and celebrate loved ones embarking on the trek, which starts next to the Folsom Dam and ends in front of the state Capitol.

Organizers have released a spectator guide for supporters, naming places where they can lift tired runners’ spirits. DJs and bands are scheduled to liven the atmosphere at select locations, according to the Sacramento Running Association, which organizes the marathon.

Spectators are not allowed to watch runners begin, according to the website, but spectator stations are sprinkled throughout the race.

Where can you watch the marathon and what’s there?
