Even though there’s something special about visiting a brick-and-mortar, we are very much in our buying things online era. With that in mind, we set out to find the best Internet furniture stores because, let’s face it: Decorating your house takes a long time, so why drag out the process by visiting each store you like in person? At the end of the day, everyone who has at least 10 tabs open at all times knows that shopping online is easier in every way. The only potential problem is the sheer number of options. Think about it: When you’re shopping in person, there’s a limited inventory for you to peruse, so getting overwhelmed is unlikely. When shopping online, however, you have access to every item on every site, which can feel daunting.

That’s where we come in. We’ve sifted through all of the online retailers and picked out the best ones that are worthy of your time. So, if you must spend some time picking out furniture, focus on these 54 spots. Some sell one-of-a-kind vintage collector’s pieces, and others are a bit more mass-market, so no matter what you’re looking for, you’re bound to find it here. What’s more, the House Beautiful editors have shopped at quite a few of these stores and have lots to say about their experiences. So if you wan tot refresh your space, make sure to use products from these spots.

Arhaus

Headquartered in Ohio, Arhaus has designed and manufacturered all of its products in the U.S. since 1986. Domestically-made products not only cuts down on shipping times, but on greenhouse gas emissions too. The brand's goal? To create beautiful, heirloom-quality furniture and decor that can be loved for generations. They're made with high quality materials and, in some cases, by hand, so if you're looking for cheap pieces in a pinch, Arhaus may not be the brand for you. Otherwise, invest in something beautiful and enjoy it for years.

Serena & Lily

Lovers of preppy-coastal style know Serena & Lily for its classically chic furniture and decor—the Riviera stools are the perfect example. If they look familiar, you may have seen something similar arranged around an al fresco bistro table in the south of France. In fact, these specific rattan chairs were crafted in a time-honored technique employed by many French furniture designers: They're bent and shaped by hand until the iconic shape appears. All of Serena & Lily's furniture is made with such attention to detail.

Frontgate

Frontgate is one of our favorite places to shop, and not just because we collaborated with the designers on a charming capsule collection. Mostly everything is made by the in-house designers for whom no detail is too small to ignore. Frontgate is most famous for its collection of durable outdoor furniture, but the indoor-only pieces, such as the Old World-inspired Angelina accent stool, are just as good.

Article

"Article makes Scandinavian-inspired furniture that will blend in nicely with most decor styles. The pieces are affordable, yet stylish and high-quality, so you're getting a lot of value," Senior Commerce Editor Heath Owens says. "My Article coffee table has held up for years and looks like it would cost double the actual price." If you're wondering what Scandinavian design is, allow us to explain: It was a design influence that emerged during the now-iconic midcentury modern era—though, as it's name implies, it came specifically out of Scandinavia. Aesthetically speaking, this type of furniture is simple and devoid of unnecessary detail.

Lostine

As you may be able to gleam for the photo, Lostine is an outpost that expertly curates vintage pieces. That said, it's not a vintage-only store. There's also a studio where artisans come together to design and manufacture their own pieces. "I have a particular fondness for stores that mix vintage with new because it is so similar to how I decorate at home. There's an element of discovery and a cohesive reliability (you know that if you love your new throw pillow you can go back and get another one)," Deputy Managing Editor Olivia Hosken says. "Philadelphia-based Lostine delivers both on their website, so I can equally covet a vintage Ikea stool, well-priced art, and a set of plug-in sconces for my bedroom."

Wayfair

You can find virtually anything at Wayfair, from bed frames to composters, and for can't-beat prices either. "I love Wayfair because they have so much stuff, so if I wanted to, I could decorate my entire apartment—from the bed frame to the dishes—with Wayfair. I also love it because there's such a massive range of quality and price," Associate Shopping Editor Jessica Cherner says. "What makes this company so amazing, though, is the customer service. Nothing triggers my anger like talking to someone in customer service who is just reading from a script and not trying to help, and Wayfair is the opposite of that. I have never waited on hold for more than three minutes, and whoever I end up talking to always genuinely seems to want to help."

AllModern

As its name implies, AllModern's furniture collection boasts an undeniable midcentury feel. That said, because it's designed in today's era, it's built to last using durable materials. Plenty of the pieces are more contemporary iterations of pieces you'd recognize from the Bauhaus movement. Associate Shopping Editor Janae Mackenzie says, "My green velvet sofa is the crown jewel of my living room and was such a find on AllModern. Their durable furniture has such a sleek silhouette and is vibrant, spacious and comfortable, not to mention easy to move and assemble."

Rove Concepts

Rove Concepts is another brand whose wares are inspired by the midcentury modern era. These cane chairs, for instance, recall the delicate details Pierre Jeanneret's Chandigarh, which he designed in the 1950s. Though plenty of Rove Concept's pieces take general cues from the 50-year-long design movement, quite a few are reproductions of specific pieces, including Mario Bellini's modular sofa.

Furniture aside, Rove Concepts is a great brand to shop for two big reasons. First, it utilizes advanced AR (augmented reality) features that allow you to visualize a piece in your specific space (as long as you're shopping on your iPhone). Second, there's a trade program, so if you are an interior designer (or hired an interior designer), you can get a good deal on anything you want to bring into your home.

Medley

As much as Medley wants to create beautiful pieces that stand the test of time, the brand's main focus is what they're made of and how they're made, so whether you're getting a plush sofa or a simple bed frame, you can rest assured that it's made sustainably with ethically-sourced materials. If you want to make sure that the pieces you use most are as environmentally friendly as possible, be sure to shop the brand's plant-based latex and wool furniture collection. Lastly, everything—and we mean everything—is hand-crafted by the brand's myriad artisans.

Kardiel

If this low-profile lounge chair looks familiar, that's because it, like all of Kardiel's pieces, is inspired by Germany's Bauhaus movement, which originated in the 1920s. This brand is a favorite with House Beautiful editors, including Cherner, who says, "I bought a pair of micro suede swivel chairs when I moved into my first post-graduate apartment in 2016. I still have and love them. They're filled with high-quality foam and down, so they're sink-in soft." Unlike most brands that make their pieces in small batches in locally-run factories, the majority of Kardiel's furniture is in stock and ready to ship to any address in the U.S. and Canada.

West Elm

West Elm making this list shouldn't surprise you, but just in case you've never been to one of the brand's stores, you should definitely check out its website. With prices on the higher end of affordable and a selection that goes well beyond furniture (though it does furniture so well), you'll definitely want to check out the site. "I, like many others, redecorated my apartment during the pandemic. My first buy was a pale pink pedestal dining table. Almost four years later, I have no regrets about my semi-impulse purchase," Cherner says.

Burrow

Burrow is an internet favorite that's best known for its sofas (like this gorgeous leather option, which, by the way, has nearly 1,000 reviews and a 4.5 star rating), but you'll also find chairs, ottomans, tables, shelves, rugs, and more. The brand's sofas and sectionals are modular, so you can rearrange and grow them as you need to.

"My friend worked at Burrow and had a discount there, so when I was looking for an apartment-friendly leather sectional, getting one from the brand was a no-brainer. Furniture is expensive!" Senior Commerce Editor Marina Liao says. "Discount aside, I'm so happy with the sofa that I'd buy it again for full price. Even after sitting and sleeping on the sectional for four years, the leather still feels smooth, clean, and stain-free. Burrow pieces are high quality, and they make any renter apartment feel instantly more luxe."

We awarded the Easy Edge bar cabinet a Live Better Award for its ability to fit into small spaces and have a design impact.

"I have a couch from Sundays. Their customer service is really great and made the delivery process super easy (considering I'm in a fifth-floor walkup with narrow hallways!)," says Commerce Editor Samantha Jones.

Oeuf

Oeuf, which means "egg" in French, is a Brooklyn-based sustainable children's lifestyle brand that sells everything from burping cloths to full-blown cribs, so if you want to make your baby's nursery the chicest room in the house, we suggest shopping here. The brand is the brainchild of the husband-and-wife duo who started it back in 2002. Sophie Demenge, the co-founder, says that she embarked on the brand's inception out of necessity: She was pregnant and had trouble finding a well-designed, well-made and produced ethically. She and her husband Michael decided to build it themselves.

"I love Oeuf's clean, modern aesthetic. I registered for the Sparrow crib because I had read where a designer recommended it, and I actually received the classic one but I love it too," Senior Editor Elyse Moody says. "Oeuf designs work with a mix of aesthetics, whether you want to stick with clean-lined pieces or mix with vintage or hand-me-down furniture. I also love how easy the crib has been to put together and adjust and that it's made of nontoxic materials." Hosken adds, "It's hard to find the right balance of playful, practical, and chic when it comes to children's items. I don't want my babies to live in a sad beige world, but I also want to make sure I fill my home with practical, durable pieces that don't give me a visual headache. Oeuf nails it every time. Like, who wouldn't want a fun scalloped crib that also comes in birch and also converts into a bed that can accommodate your child until they are six?"

Anthropologie

If you're not already obsessed with Anthropologie's home section, it needs to be on your radar. Okay, so its prices aren't exactly affordable (though some pieces might surprise you!), but if Anthropologie is in your price range, you'll find tons of stunning, unique pieces, including this bohemian-inspired cane bed with a wrapped headboard. While we're on the subject of beds, you may as well snag your bedding from Anthropologie too. "I bought a beautiful duvet set from here a few years ago and it's still on my bed. It came with the duvet cover and two European-size shams. They're both so elegant. I always get compliments on my bed when people come over," Cherner says.

Neighbor

Anyone with an outdoor space—no matter the size—needs to know about Neighbor. It was started by three friends in the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic when most of life was taken outside (where airflow is maximized and germ-spreading was minimized). Their goal was for all of the pieces to be made and designed with the same level of love and attention to detail as living room furniture. After all, if we're going to be spending more time outside, we may as well be comfortable, right? That was basically the three friends' driving force behind the design ethos. "I had a small terrace at my old apartment. It had just enough space for a chair and an end table, so I bought a classic Adirondack chair from Neighbor, and I loved it. I would spend so much time sitting there people-watching, reading, or chatting on the phone," Cherner says.

Etsy

Etsy is the place you go to for one-of-a-kind pieces or furniture items you can't find at bigger retailers. "I've bought planters from France and a work desk handmade in Latvia from Etsy," Liao says. "It's my favorite place to shop for when I want a piece not many people will have. Sometimes I just don't want the same decor as my friends who shop at West Elm or CB2 (even though I love those places too)."

Hosekn adds, "Etsy’s 'shop location' filter is highly underrated when you're looking to score amazing vintage and handmade deals. I set the shop location to my zipcode or state, and search for anything from 'custom radiator covers' to 'nursery dresser' and can browse all the local furniture makers and vintage restorers with a few clicks. Bonus: A lot of sellers offer local pickup so you can save on those expensive furniture shipping fees too!" What's more, the "shop location" feature is not limited to any locale in the world, whether you're in a huge city in the United States or a tiny town in Morocco.

Nathan James

"I just ordered a few things from Nathan James and I'm so impressed with the packaging, price point, and ease of assembly. The style is elevated yet minimal so it can go with what you already have," Senior Commerce Manager Mackenzie Dunn says. Nathan James is the brainchild of 30-year-old founder Brooke Burdon, who started the company after graduating college and realizing she could hardly afford good quality furniture for her first apartment. She started with essential pieces that anyone moving into a new place needs: a sofa, bed frame, coffee table, and more. As she began to develop a customer base, she designed more and more, growing her brand to encompass more than the immediate must-haves.

Interior Define

Interior Define sells everything you'd need for your home, but the brand is best known for its collection of totally customizable sofas. The great thing about Interior Define, though, is that you'll never get catfished when shopping. What you see is what you get, so if you think the color may look different in person or wondering whether or not it won't be as plush as it seems in the photo, worry not. Mackenzie adds, "Sectionals can be a tricky purchase to make online, and this designer-loved brand makes the experience a lot less nerve-wracking with their range of silhouettes and high quality fabrics."

Saatva

Saatva is more famous for its luxurious mattresses than it is for furniture, so consider this our call to shop the latter category. All of the pieces are bedroom-specific, so if if you're in need of a new bed, bench, or nightstand, Saatva is the place to go. Everything is made to order without chemicals and toxic materials, making it a sustainable brand we're obsessed with. One of the brand's biggest fans is Deputy Digital Editor Katelyn Lunders, who loves her Rx mattress.

She says, "The firmness is just right. I've never felt more comfortable and supported while sleeping. I feel an improvement in my hip and lower back pain thanks to Saatva's body contouring and lumbar support." So feel free to buy your mattress and the bed frame from Saatva for your next bedroom refresh.

Whether your style's more industrial, mid-century modern, or full-on Joanna Gaines-inspired, Amazon has you covered. Dunn adds, "I bought a coffee table from Amazon that I am in love with it. Cherner says, "I have never bought furniture from Nordstrom, but I do have the Boll & Branch sheets and they are incredible. Sabai

On a constant mission to set a new approachable standard for earth-friendly, affordable, and furniture that doesn't compromise on quality, Sabai is easily one of the best sustainable home brands. Not only are the fabrics recycled or all-natural, but the actual furniture is made in a family-owned factory in High Point, North Carolina. "My sofa is Sabai and I love it," Cherner says. "I have the Essential in navy velvet. Not going to lie: It was really hard to put together, so I had to call a friend to help me, but once it was assembled, it was a dream. The cushions are a bit firmer, so if you don't want to sink down, this is a great get. It's the only place I sit when I work from home."

MacKenzie-Childs

MacKenzie-Childs is definitely a niche brand in that you need to really vibe with the look, which is very bright and patterned. If your style skews more maximalist, you'll definitely have a thing for MacKenzie-Childs, and we get it. It may be a household name, but did you know that it was founded in Aurora, New York, by husband-and-wife Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs 40 years ago? "You can't miss a MacKenzie-Childs piece and one of my favorite things to do is to pop into its store in NYC to look at the latest offerings," Liao says. "I will say, the prints and colors are sometimes a bit too maximalist for my decor tastes, but I appreciate how funky their patterns are. Another brand that's the brainchild of a husband and wife, Albany Park has been turning out some of the most comfortable sofas since the brand's inception in 2017. Take, for instance, the best-selling Kova Pit, which is so plush that it's basically a giant pillow. After a long time of looking, I finally found these Marcel Breuer Cesca chairs on Chairish and they're perfect. Because they're vintage, they're a bit delicate, but they're my favorite thing I own."
