Since Art Basel Miami Beach started in 2002, it’s become much more than just a tropical outpost for the famed Swiss art fair. Not only have alternative fairs popped up surrounding Basel, including the all-women art showcase Free! and NADA (the New Art Dealers Alliance), where all of the emerging gallerists convene, but also a bona fide party circuit with countless club nights and musical showcases where celebrities like Kanye West and Cardi B bump shoulders with seasoned art dealers.

It’s no surprise then, given the wide range of events, that it’s become a hot spot for out-of-the-box street style. Architects, artists, models, and more descended on Miami over the past few days in with suitcases full of painterly and exotic fashions for the balmy weather. From lime green wrap skirts paired with Louis Vuitton cross-body bags, to bright yellow trenchcoats and Matrix sunglasses, one could make the case that the vibrant styles on display were just as eye-catching as the art. Above, take a look at some of the best street style from this year’s Art Basel Miami.
