Though the university does not have any blockchain research centers, its scholars have published 131 blockchain research papers from 2019 to 2022, receiving 3,146 citations. The University of Sydney's Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Society is one of 25 institutions partnering with the Oasis Protocol Foundation to support the privacy-enabled Oasis blockchain network.

From larger events like The Financial Technology (FinTech) Sprint and The FinTech Boot Camp, to smaller talks like “Future Fintech” and “Fintech, Consumer Right, and Cross-Border Regulations in China and Australia,” the University is engaged in discussion over many facets of blockchain and its applications.
