Best Vacuum Deals Right Now

Consumer Reports highlights the best sales on highly rated models from iRobot, Eufy, Tineco, Shark and more

By Samantha B Gordon

If you’re looking for a new vacuum, this is a great opportunity to get one for a low price. The Amazon Prime Early Access Sale features loads of vacuums at steep discounts. We’ve found more than a few of the top models in our ratings at some of their lowest prices of the year.

We take into consideration a variety of factors when highlighting vacuum sales. This includes a model’s performance in CR’s tests, its predicted reliability based on data from our member surveys, and the size of the discount compared with the original list price and the current “street price” (i.e., the typical cost of the product).

Below, you’ll find the best deals available now on canister vacuums plus handheld, stick, robotic, and upright models that perform well in CR’s tests. Some are better for handling pet hair, while others may be just right for high-pile carpet or bare floors. Look for the right combination of features that fits your needs at a price that fits your budget.

And if you don’t see a model that fits your needs don’t worry. This sale, along with the recent Target event and the ongoing Walmart sale, marks the beginning of the holiday shopping season. We expect to see more deals than usual at Black Friday prices all the way up to the holidays. Check back often for the latest offers on models that perform well, and take a look at CR’s Deals hub for the latest.

Robotic Vacuums

iRobot Roomba S9+

One of the latest iRobot models to hit the market, the Roomba S9+ is pricey, but it delivers great performance across the board. The vacuum earns top scores down the line in most of our cleaning tests, and it does nearly as well cleaning carpets. This is a self-emptying model that empties its dustbin into a bag, no hands required. And like some of its brandmates, the S9+ earns top marks for data privacy and data security.

Why it’s a good deal: Outside of a flash sale over the summer, this is the lowest price we’ve seen for this model all year.

Eufy 11S

The affordable Eufy RoboVac 11S struggles to thoroughly clean large areas. But it’s nimble, making it a great option for cleaning a few rooms at a time. One of the shortest and lightest robots that CR has tested, it drives under furniture and wiggles away from hazards like power cords and carpet fringe better than most robots we’ve tested. It’s also quiet, and the cleaning performance is respectable for its price. Eufy makes a handful of robots very similar to the 11S, but this is the most basic model, and one of the few robotic vacuums still available that doesn’t connect to the internet.

Why it’s a good deal: With the on-page coupon, this price is just $15 more than the lowest we’ve seen.

iRobot Roomba j7+

Like the Roomba s9+ (above), the Roomba j7+ is smart enough to learn your home’s layout and then offer up all sorts of control over when, where, and how it cleans. It may  actually be one of the smartest robots, period, as it’s designed to recognize and avoid hazards around your home like pet waste, stray socks, and other items that can snarl a robot in its tracks. Its cleaning performance isn’t as strong as that of the Roomba s9+, but it’s a much nimbler navigator overall and arguably more pleasant to use. The Roomba j7+ comes with an auto-emptying dock; the robot-only Roomba j7 is also available during this Prime Day event.

Why it’s a good deal: This discount matches the lowest we’ve ever seen on this robot vac.

iRobot Roomba i2

This deal on the limited-release Roomba i2 will be available throughout the Amazon Prime sale. The robot is very similar to the Roomba i3 EVO, which we’ve tested and found to be a strong cleaner and reliable navigator that should work well in homes of nearly any size. The main difference is that the Roomba i2 doesn’t have the ability to clean specific rooms on demand after it learns your floor plan, as the Roomba i3 EVO can. But for the price, it’s worth considering. You could also consider the similar Roomba i4+ EVO, which comes with a self-emptying dock and is available for a deep discount during the sale.

Why it’s a good deal: It’s just $21 more than the lowest price we’ve seen this year.

iRobot Roomba i4+

An upgraded version of the Roomba i2 (and essentially identical to the Roomba i3+), this Roomba i4+ deal will be available throughout the Prime Day event. The i4+ can learn the layout of one level of your home, after which you can use a companion app on your phone to command it to clean specific rooms, while skipping others. It also comes with a dock that automatically empties the robot’s dust bin into a vacuum bag, which can hold one to two months’ worth of debris.

Why it’s a good deal: This robot vacuum was cheaper back in June, but this is still a pretty deep discount.

Stick Vacuums

Tineco Pure One S11

The Tineco Pure One S11 cleans impressively in all our major tests and has many features to boot. An LED panel shows how much battery life you have left as well as the suction level, which varies when you switch from bare floors to carpet. A sensor detects the amount of debris and adapts the suction power accordingly. If you’re so inclined, you can connect to a Tineco app that indicates cleaning performance, such as battery life, on your smartphone. In CR’s tests, it ran for 22 minutes per charge when using both the high and low settings.

Why it’s a good deal: If you need a vacuum now, this is a good discount for this model. It was selling for under $300 during the recent Amazon sale and may get cheaper around Black Friday.

Miele Triflex HX1 SMUL0

Miele has a sterling reputation for its plug-in vacuums, and the Triflex HX1 is its first cordless model. It earns top-notch scores on almost all our tests. The coolest part, though, is that you can put its parts together in two different styles: A modern stick-type setup, with the weight at the top and a long shaft that can reach into cramped areas, or a more traditional upright configuration, with better balance but a bulkier middle.

Why it’s a good deal: This brand doesn’t go on sale often, so take advantage of this discount before it’s gone.

Handheld Vacuums

iRobot H1 H121020

We’re used to seeing iRobot vacuums in our robotic ratings. But the iRobot H1 H121020 hand vac is the first to break into our handheld ranks. It performs well overall and is especially good at cleaning bare floors and picking up pet hair, earning top scores. The rotating brush attachment makes good contact with surfaces, helping boost its pickup scores. It has a trigger that allows you to turn the vacuum on and off, or you can lock it and let the iRobot run. The battery lasts for about 17 minutes when running on high. It weighs just over 3 pounds, which is about average for the handhelds we test.

Why it’s a good deal: This is the best price we’ve ever seen for this model, beating the previous low by $25.

Black+Decker DustBuster ION HHVI315JO42

The cordless Black+Decker DustBuster Ion HHVI315JO42 is top-notch at cleaning bare floors and pet hair and earns strong scores for carpet. The crevice tool and dust brush are separate and not combination tools like those on other Black+Decker handhelds. Note: Despite its impressive performance, the lack of an indicator light on this cordless model makes it difficult to know whether it’s fully charged when plugged in or about to die when you’re using it.

Why it’s a good deal: This model is a multi-tasker that’s a steal at its usual price—at a discount, it’s even more appealing.

Upright Vacuums

Dyson Ball Animal 2

The 17-pound Dyson Ball Animal 2 has impressive results in CR’s lab tests for carpet cleaning. It aces our bare-floor and pet-hair tests, too. Emissions are clean, so this vacuum won’t spew debris back into the room (although emptying the bin can stir up some dust). It comes with attachments that help you get into tight spaces. In our brand reliability survey, Dyson uprights earn middle-of-the-road scores for predicted reliability and owner satisfaction.

Why it’s a good deal: Dyson sales are few and far between, and this price is about $15 more than the lowest we’ve seen all year.

Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away NV501

Very similar to Shark’s Navigator NV352, the pricier Shark Rotator Professional Lift-Away NV501 has better balance and is easier to steer. It also comes with a handful of helpful extra tools, including a headlight built into the cleaning head, plus an extra-wide upholstery cleaning tool to save time.
