Bestselling author Jeannette Walls visiting Marion Public Library for Thursday event

Marion Public Library is hosting another evening with a bestselling author this week. New York Times bestselling author Jeannette Walls will be at the library for the event set for Thursday evening.

The afterhours event is free and open to the public with the doors opening at 6 p.m. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m., where Walls will talk about her life as a writer and her books. A book signing will follow at 7:30 p.m. Marion Public Library is located at 445 E. Church St. in Marion.

Jeannette Walls graduated from Barnard College and was a journalist in New York. Her newest release is Hang the Moon, a book with a strong female character leading in a time of Prohibition and bootlegging. Her memoir, The Glass Castle, has been a New York Times bestseller for more than eight years.

Walls is also the author of the instant New York Times bestsellers The Silver Star and Half Broke Horses, which was named one of the ten best books of 2009 by the editors of The New York Times Book Review. Walls lives in rural Virginia with her husband, the writer John Taylor.

This author visit is just the next in a series of authors to be brought to the Marion community in an effort to connect readers to authors. Books by Walls will be sold by the BookMarks Friends of Marion Public Library at the event.
