Betken, Hansen receive Student of Month honors at Cornell

CORNELL — Paisley Betken and Leah Hansen have been named Cornell Grade School students of the month for January.

Paisley Betken has been named for kindergarten through fourth grade after being nominated by teachers Ashley Follmer and Christina Bowman. Paisley is the daughter of Shawna and Ian Betken of Cornell.

Leah Hansen is the student selected from fifth through eighth grade. Leah is the daughter of Cheryl and Chad Hansen of rural Cornell. Her nominating teachers were Kendra Nelson, Leslie Coughlin and Karen Austin.

Both students were presented with certificates, pin and Walmart gift cards at an all-school assembly.

Each month the grade school selects two students, one from kindergarten through fourth grades, and one from fifth through eighth grades, who best demonstrate a good attitude, respect for others, dependability, hard work, volunteerism, honesty, trustworthiness and leadership.

Each student receives a Student of the Month certificate and will have their picture on display in the main hallway at Cornell Grade School.
