PAM MALDONADO: Well, welcome to week 9 of the NFL Yahoo Sportsbook. I'm Pam Maldonado with Stats That Matter. 30% of red zone plays for New Orleans has resulted in a touchdown, that is the second best in the NFL. The play to make, Saints plus 2 and 1/2 at home to the Ravens.
There are a slew of players on this roster that are contributing to the stat line, including Saints' Swiss army knife of a tight end in Taysom Hill. 221 pounds of pure meat carving up goal line defenses. Being so efficient inside the red zone for the Saints has helped New Orleans average 14 points scored in the fourth quarter of games, that is the second best in the league.
The Ravens defense, that's a little bit of a different story. Has been the kryptonite for Baltimore so far. Overall, Baltimore's defense is allowing the most red zone plays in the league. Then allowing nearly 2/3 of those red zone trips to be converted into touchdowns.
What's been the MO for quarterback Lamar Jackson and company? We have seen it time and time again so far this year, gets out to a lead, has led in every NFL game this season, then hits a brick wall late in the game. The problem for Baltimore has been that the Ravens are the second worst in opponent fourth quarter scoring. It's basically a tale of two teams.
The Saints offense rallies late in the fourth quarter while the Ravens lose focus. In fact, six turnovers in the fourth quarter of games this year. The Saints are absolutely a live dog because of the Ravens lack of red zone defense and fourth quarter woes. The play, Saints plus 2 and 1/2 at home to the Baltimore Ravens.
