Now, let's take a look at today's top stories:

Sunday Reads

This week's Sunday Read is about how one social media challenge to honor a Golden Girl is having a local impact. The "Betty White challenge" honoring White, who died last month at age 99 after a storied career, is encouraging fans to donate to animal shelters on or leading up to the star’s 100th birthday, which is Monday, Jan. 17.

So far, it's been a welcome boost to local animal shelters.

January events at Heritage State Park

Winter may be here, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty to do at Fall River's Heritage State Park. From history talks to children's activities, the Visitor Center in the Captain Thomas J. Hudner, Jr. Memorial Building is offering a variety of programs, films and exhibits in January.
