Beware: Scammer impersonates Times-Reporter customer service representative
NEW PHILADELPHIA – A scam artist apparently is impersonating Times-Reporter customer service representatives.
A city resident told police Wednesday that he had received a bill which appeared to come from the newspaper. It told him to call a 1-800 number. The call was apparently transferred to another person, who offered the caller a $100 Walmart gift card. When the complainant asked the subject if they were from The Times-Reporter, the person hung up.
The number does not belong to The Times-Reporter and the newspaper is not offering Walmart gift cards.
