BEXLEY BOYS GOLF

•MSL-Ohio standings: Columbus Academy (13-0), Bexley (10-3), Worthington Christian (7-6), Buckeye Valley (4-6), Wellington (2-8), Grandview (0-13)

•Seniors lost: Robby Meyer, Jacob Schottenstein and Liam Timmons

•Key returnees: Morgan Agriesti and Ben Hodge

•Postseason: Seventh (324) at sectional behind champion Dublin Jerome (292)

•Recap: Meyer wrapped up Bexley's season by shooting a 76 to tie for 23rd in the Division I district tournament Oct. 12 at Apple Valley. He shot a 72 to tie for third and advance to district from a sectional Oct. 5 at Denison Golf Club. Agriesti (82), a junior, was next for the Lions at sectional, followed by Schottenstein (85), freshman Hodge (85) and Timmons (86).

Agriesti earned first-team all-league honors. Meyer and Schottenstein were second-team all-league and Hodge was honorable mention.

•Quotable: “Robby had a phenomenal round (at district) and his ball-striking is as good as any player I have coached but his three three-putts killed him. BEXLEY GIRLS GOLF

•Seniors lost: Camilla Borders and Priya Roy

•Key returnees: Maya Aframian, Andrea Golden, Jessica Host and Ellie Schoedinger

•Postseason: Sixth (380) at sectional behind champion New Albany (285)

•Recap: The Lions showed continued improvement throughout the season, including at a Division I sectional Oct. 5 at Blacklick Woods, where they finished sixth with a 380. That’s 44 strokes better than last fall, when they were seventh with a 424.

Golden, a freshman, led with a 91, followed by junior Aframian (93), Roy (98), sophomore Schoedinger (98) and junior Host (104).

Golden (first-team all-league) averaged 44.1 per nine holes, followed by Roy (49.6; honorable mention all-league), Schoedinger (49.9; second-team all-league), Aframian (50.4; honorable mention all-league) and Host (51.6; honorable mention all-league).

•Quotable: “Everyone improved by at least three strokes from last year. Ellie Schoedinger went from an average of 60 from last season to 49 this year. That’s 11 strokes, so that’s pretty impressive.” — coach Brycen Baugh

ST. CHARLES CROSS COUNTRY

•Seniors lost: Austin Barnhart, Colson Caridi, Will Cromley, Andrew Dunn, Sabastian Fast, Daniel Ferguson, Will Ferris, Andrew Flemming, Andrew Huffman, Andrew Klingele, Luke Knueve, Samuel Lawler, Caleb Lipkin, A.J. Liss, Patrick Lynch, James Messerly, Luke Messerly and Nicholas Warner

•Key returnees: J.J. Robson Jr. and Evan Sage

•Postseason: 15th (378) at district behind Hilliard Davidson (28)

•Recap: Liss was the team leader, finishing 28th (16:51.9) in the district 3 race Oct. 23 at Hilliard Darby. He was followed by Ferguson (74th, 17:47.6), Ferris (76th, 17:49.4), Dunn (99th, 18:21.4), Lawler (102nd, 18:27.9), junior Sage (103rd, 18:28.6) and sophomore Robson Jr. (110th, 18:47.9).

Liss led the Cardinals in the CCL race Oct. 18 at Three Creeks Metro Park, finishing eighth in 17:33.0.

BEXLEY FIELD HOCKEY

•Record: 7-10 overall

•COFHL-East standings: Watterson (8-0), New Albany (7-1), Columbus Academy (6-2), Worthington Kilbourne (5-3), Bexley and Granville (both 3-5), Columbus School for Girls and Hartley (both 2-6), Lancaster (0-8)

•Seniors lost: Lainey Dorrian, Lillian Gyurcsik and Sally Sauer

•Key returnees: Evie Holzhall, Maddy Krasnow, Bea Meeks, Isabelle Stukey, Wren Ruckel and Frankie Zehnal

•Postseason: Lost to Granville 1-0 in first round of regional tournament

•Recap: The Lions were a strong defensive team led by Sauer in goal, as she set program records for saves (151) and save percentage (82.1 percent). Junior defender Holzhall (2 goals, 2 assists) joined Sauer in being named second-team all-league. Junior midfielder Meeks was honorable mention all-league.

Sophomore forward Zehnal led the team in scoring with eight goals and one assist, and junior midfielder Krasnow added two goals and five assists. Two young players who made their mark are sophomore defender Stukey and freshman forward Ruckel, who had one goal and one assist after moving up midseason from j.v.

•Quotable: “I think we had a pretty good season. Four of our losses were by one goal and three of those losses came in overtime, so we were pretty competitive in most games. Our league is tough and contains some of the best teams in the state.” — coach Kara Whitlatch

CSG FIELD HOCKEY

•Seniors lost: Cynthia Alexander, Grace Edic, Sarah Lonser, Gia Noel Manokas and Elizabeth Schrim

•Key returnees: Sarah Alexander, Bradyn Cassandra, Jacey Cassandra, Kayla Kirby and Summer Williams

•Postseason: Lost to Olentangy Orange 1-0 (OT) in second round of regional tournament

•Recap: The Unicorns were going through a learning process with first-year coach Jacque DeMarco, who came to the program after a successful stint at Kenyon.

Junior midfielder/defender Jacey Cassandra was second-team all-league, and sophomore midfielder/defender Sarah Alexander was honorable mention. DeMarco said the team’s top scoring threats were Sarah Alexander, Jacey Cassandra, sophomore forward Williams and freshman midfielder Bradyn Cassandra. Kirby, a junior, started in goal.

•Seniors lost: Kayden Edwards, Evelyn McCarthy, Allie Renshaw, Emma Spangler and Grace Wong

•Key returnees: Madeline Hansen, Claudia Jones, Lilly Kern, Zella Lamaze, Avery Miller, Allie Salamon, Bethany Spangler and Annie Wagenbrenner

•Postseason: Def. Madison Plains 10-0; def. Ready 3-0; lost to Fairbanks 1-0 (OT) in Division III district semifinal

•Recap: The Unicorns continued to make strides under third-year coach Genelle Castro, finishing 11-7 for their best record since going 11-8 in 2015. They were the third seed in the district, losing 1-0 in overtime to second-seeded and eventual district champion Fairbanks on Oct. 26 in a semifinal.

Goalie Emma Spangler (second-team all-state, first-team all-district and all-league) had 52 saves and nine shutouts. Sophomore midfielder/forward Miller (second-team all-district, first-team all-league) had 11 goals and four assists. Sophomore midfielder/defenders Hansen (5 goals, 5 assists) and Salamon (5 goals, 2 assists) were second-team all-league.

Other starters expected back are juniors Jones (defender), Carly Priest (midfielder; honorable mention all-league) and Wagenbrenner (defender/midfielder; first-team all-league) and sophomores Kern (defender; honorable mention all-league) and Lamaze (midfielder/forward; 8 goals, 3 assists)

•Quotable: “We battled a lot of injuries and a few canceled games, and I was really proud of the players for the improvements they made this season. All in all, we had a great season with a lot to be proud of.” — Castro

BEXLEY GIRLS TENNIS

•Record: 6-8 overall

•MSL-Ohio standings: Wellington (7-0), Columbus Academy (6-1), Columbus School for Girls (5-2), Bexley, Buckeye Valley and Worthington Christian (all 3-4), Grandview (1-6), Whitehall (0-7)

•Seniors lost: Audrey Bilotta and Samantha Topolosky

•Key returnees: Leah Baumann, Mia Ehrsam, Ava Foster, Olivia Ramsden, Remy Schottenstein and Gabbie Theile

•Recap: The Lions had a pair of doubles teams compete in the Division II district tournament Oct. 14 and 16 at Academy. The teams of junior Foster and sophomore Ehrsam and sophomores Ramsden and Schottenstein both lost their district openers.

Foster and Ehrsam went 3-1 at sectional to place third, and Ramsden and Schottenstein were fourth at 2-2. Topolosky (2-1) and Bilotta (1-1) and junior Baumann (1-1) played singles at sectional.

Ehrsam and Foster were second-team all-league. Theile, a freshman, was honorable mention all-league.

CSG TENNIS

•Record: 7-7 overall

•MSL-Ohio standings: Wellington (7-0), Columbus Academy (6-1), Columbus School for Girls (5-2), Bexley, Buckeye Valley and Worthington Christian (all 3-4), Grandview (1-6), Whitehall (0-7)

•Seniors lost: Emma Hardy, Lane Sharfin and Eva Weiland

•Key returnees: Elizabeth Burgess, Becca Hoffman, Maya Howard, Lanie Klatt, Annahita Riazi and Peyton Readler

•Recap: Junior Hoffman and sophomore Burgess lost their opening doubles match in the Division II district tournament Oct. 14 at Academy after going 3-1 to place third in a home sectional Oct. 8 and 9.

Sharfin and Hardy went 1-1 in singles at district, and junior Howard was 0-1. In doubles, juniors Readler and Riazi were 1-1.

Hoffman was first-team all-league and Burgess was second-team all-league. Klatt, a junior, was injured before sectional and was unable to play singles but was second-team all-league. Sharfin was honorable mention all-league.

•Quotable: “Our season was terrific. We played an appropriately tough schedule and battled some injuries throughout, but the student-athletes were as committed and competitive as any team I’ve coached in years. This group has such heart. I am beyond proud of them.” — coach Sean Delaney

BEXLEY GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

•Record: 16-5 overall

•MSL-Ohio standings: Bexley (12-0), Grandview (8-4), Worthington Christian (9-3), Buckeye Valley (6-5), Columbus Academy (4-8), Columbus School for Girls (1-10), Whitehall (1-11)

•Seniors lost: Kelsey Cain, Emma Magee and Giulia Viglietta

•Key returnees: Madison Ingram, Madison Lampke, Kate Magee, Kayden McKinney and Sydnie Smith

•Postseason: Lost to Bloom-Carroll 26-28, 17-25, 26-24, 25-17, 15-13 in second round of Division I district tournament

•Recap: The Lions won their first league title since 2018. They had the league’s Player of the Year in outside hitter Viglietta (first-team all-district; team-leading 243 kills and 277 digs) and the league’s Coach of the Year in Mindy Millard.

Junior setter Lampke (team-high 410 assists) and freshman outside hitter/defensive specialist McKinney (207 kills, 276 digs) were first-team all-league.

Junior middle hitters Ingram (team-high 35 blocks) and Smith (102 blocks, 33 blocks) were first-team all-league. Sophomore setter Kate Magee (191 assists) was honorable mention all-league.

•Quotable: “We had a fantastic season this year. The team’s positivity, effort, work ethic and sportsmanship were outstanding. I believe it was their commitment to each other and this team that set the tone and made for an extraordinary season. I could not be more proud of these young ladies.” — Millard

CSG VOLLEYBALL

•Record: 3-13 overall

•MSL-Ohio standings: Bexley (12-0), Grandview (8-4), Worthington Christian (9-3), Buckeye Valley (6-5), Columbus Academy (4-8), CSG (1-10), Whitehall (1-11)

•Seniors lost: Anja Fleegle, Susanna Halaharvi, Catherine Lyons, Taylor Porter and Ruthie Saar

•Key returnees: Mackenzie Gibson, Olivia Graham, Ava Kessler, Bella Luckage and Samantha Morris

•Postseason: Lost to Jonathan Alder 25-8, 25-11, 25-21 in first round of Division II district tournament

•Recap: The Unicorns won only three matches, but first-year coach Katie Smith was working with an inexperienced lineup. Smith was the team’s third coach in three seasons.

Luckage, a junior libero, was honorable mention all-league. She expects to be a returning starter along with sophomores Gibson (middle hitter), Graham (setter) and Kessler (setter) and freshman Morris (outside hitter).
