From the moment Beyoncé and Jay-Z accepted their Brit Award back in April while standing in front of a portrait of Meghan Markle, it was only a matter of time before The Carters connected with England’s newest duchess. Tonight at The Lion King’s London premiere, music royalty and British royalty finally came face to face in an epic fashion moment.

The Disney film took over Leicester Square for the star-studded event, and though her well-dressed co-stars Florence Kasumba and Billy Eichner were present, no one could compete with Mrs. Carter. Fresh from dazzling in a sparkling custom Alexander McQueen at the world premiere in Los Angeles, Beyoncé wore a custom gold pleated gown with a daring thigh high slit by Cong Tri. Joined by Jay-Z, they made a dynamic pair as they posed for photographers.

The Duchess of Sussex went for refinement in a black Jason Wu cocktail dress accented by a delicate mesh overlay for maximum effect. With Prince Harry by her side, the couple drew the royal crowd into a frenzy when they appeared on the orange carpet and later shared a quick chat with the Carters.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Beyoncé has made a splash with the royal family. Back in 2014, she and Jay-Z mingled with Kate Middleton and Prince William courtside at a Brooklyn Nets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers game at the Barclay Center. The brief encounter managed to make headlines worldwide, setting the stage for tonight’s meeting and more royal moments to come.
