Beyoncé Pays Tribute To Tina Turner, Performing ‘River Deep – Mountain High’ During Renaissance World Tour

Beyoncé paid tribute to one of her biggest inspirations, the late music icon Tina Turner, during the U.K. leg of her Renaissance World Tour.
On May 24, Turner passed away at the age of 83 in her Switzerland home after a long illness. As expected, Beyoncé wasted no time paying homage to the rock ‘n’ roll legend through her website.
“My beloved queen. I love you endlessly. I’m so grateful for your inspiration, and all the ways you have paved the way,” she wrote on the site at the time of her passing. “You are strength and resilience. You are the epitome of power and passion. We are all so fortunate to have witnessed your kindness and beautiful spirit that will forever remain. Thank you for all you have done.”
On Memorial Day, she took a moment during her tour stop in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the first of five nights performing in the city. The “Cuff It” singer wore a beautiful royal blue, mesh-like custom dress by fashion designer ROKSANDA while performing the 1966 single “River Deep – Mountain High” with a twist, as she sang it more like a ballad than a high-tempo song.
This shouldn’t take the BeyHive by surprise at all, as the mother of three has always been vocal about her admiration of the “What’s Love Got to Do With It” singer. The ‘”Cuff It” singer finally got the opportunity to live out one of her lifetime dreams when she met Turner and they together performed “Proud Mary,” Turner’s 1971 cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s song, on stage at the Grammys in 2008. The two icons stole the show in shiny silver ensembles and gave a high-energy performance that remains unforgettable 15 years later.
