Beyoncé’s Uncle Butch passed away over the weekend.

Her mother, Tina Knowles, spoke about the death of her older brother, Rowland Martin (Butch) Buyince, in a post to Instagram late Sunday night.

“My beautiful big brother Butch went to be with God this weekend. I will miss him so much,” Knowles explained. “He was a career Air Force man. He loved riding motorcycles, was a black Belt in karate and had the most beautiful green eyes and good looks. He was a great storyteller.”

She posted this message alongside a black-and-white photo of her sibling dressed in his uniform.

Knowles then mentioned Butch’s “incredible wife Jeanette” and his “devoted daughter Dana.” He was also the grandfather to two grandchildren, Yvette and Roland.

“He was greatly loved,” Knowles continued.

“Sail on Butch. Rowland Martin (Butch) Buyince, June 1946 – Feb 2024 RIP.”

Some big names sent their condolences to Knowles in the post’s comment section.

“So sorry for your loss,” commented Jennifer Hudson.

Viola Davis wrote “So sorry. Rest well.”

“Love and light Tina,” Debbie Allen said alongside prayer hand emojis.
