Bi-County basketball roundup: Glenn boys remain perfect with first-round win over Culver

The John Glenn boys basketball team continued its perfect season Tuesday night.

The Class 3A No. 2 ranked Falcons, in the process, also took the first step toward another TCU Bi-County Tournament title.

Glenn topped Culver 64-46 in opening round play of the annual event.

Silas Kaser and Brycen Hannah each scored 18 points as the Falcons improved to 13-0.

Glenn will face New Prairie (3-10) on Friday in the first semifinal game at 6:30 p.m. at LaVille. Bremen (6-4) plays Triton (8-2) in the second semifinal with the title game back at LaVille Saturday night at approximately 8:30 p.m.

New Prairie beat Oregon-Davis 53-40, in first-round play. Grady Lapczynski had 16 points and Cade Skornog 12 to lead the Cougars.

Bremen outlasted Class 1A No. 10 Argos, 66-64, in four overtimes. The loss was just the second of the year for the Dragons, now 10-2. Argos lost to Bremen 52-35 in the season opener.

Triton picked up a 60-35 win over LaVille in first-round action. Cole Shively led the Trojans with 18 points. Ashton Oviedo had 12 points and Bruce Johnson 10. Collin Czarnecki led LaVille with 14 points.

Girls tournament

The Glenn girls team also punched its ticket to the semifinals with a 65-20 win over Culver Tuesday night.

The Falcons led 23-2 after the opening period en route to improving to 13-7. Kennedy Hayden had 19 points, Lauren Fansler 15 and Mia Hooten 14 for Glenn.

Glenn plays New Prairie (9-9) in the first semifinal game Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at LaVille. Bremen (11-8) plays LaVille (9-10) in the second semifinal matchup with the tittle game Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at LaVille.

Heaylyn Kwiatkoski scored 21 points to lead LaVille past Triton 54-30 in a first-round contest. Faith Rock had 14 points and Lucy Sherk 13 for LaVille.

Kinsey Atkins and Addy Viers each had 10 points to pace Triton.

Ellia Foster netted 20 points and Kila Foster nine as Bremen topped Argos 52-50.

New Prairie advanced to the semifinals as first-round foe Oregon-Davis could not compete Tuesday night due to COVID.
