Bicyclist dies in collision in Fort Collins

Update: 7 a.m. Tuesday: The Larimer County Coroner's Office has identified the decedent of the bike crash as George Rigby, 81, of Fort Collins.

The manner of death was accident and cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries.

A bicyclist died Sunday after a collision with a small SUV in central Fort Collins.

The collision happened about 12:51 p.m. at Lemay Avenue and Centennial Road, which is between Horsetooth and Drake roads, according to a news release from Fort Collins Police Services. Lemay was closed for several hours during the investigation into the crash, according to police.

The cyclist was attempting to cross Lemay Avenue to the west from Centennial Road. A person driving a Honda CR-V was traveling north on Lemay and struck the cyclist, according to the news release. Police said the driver of the Honda had the right-of-way.

When police arrived on scene, the cyclist, an adult male, was seriously injured and taken to a hospital. He later died.
