Bicyclist dies days after hit-and-run; suspect wanted

AKRON, Ohio (WJW) – The Summit County Medical Examiner reports a 47-year-old man has died days after he was struck by a vehicle while riding an electric bike.

Akron police said they are searching for whoever is responsible for hitting the bicyclist.

According to the Akron Police Department, officers responded to the area of S. Arlington and Ray Streets shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday. They found the man lying on the ground unconscious after being struck by a car.

The victim was transported to a local hospital. According to the Summit County Medical Examiner, Monday night at about 8:30 p.m., the man now identified as Jimmy Fletcher, 47, died from his injuries.

Based on preliminary findings, officials believe the victim was heading northbound on S. Arlington Steet when he was hit by a white sedan that turned onto Ray Street.
